Last week I had one of the coolest experiences anyone can have, I went to La Gran Sabana (the Great Savanna) located in the Canaima National Park of Bolivar state, in my country Venezuela.
It is said that the Gran Sabana is one of the few places in our whole world that remains mostly untouched by the humans or even by the nature forces, since the one big continent Pangea. Given the difficult acces to this region it was almost imposible for the first explorers that came to Venezuela to get to it, thus only the original local people of the zone inhabitated it for thousands of years, this way the territory is really well preserved because the native people of the Canaima National park are indigenous pemon indians, they live in tribes in the extent of park, and some other locations in Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana, and this people believe that taking care of they enviorment is one of the most important things they have to do in their lives.
Having almost none human contact helps the Gran Sabana to be as beautiful and magic as it is, the places you get to see when you visit it are majestic, gigantic and really green, you get to see mountains, rivers, water falls, deep forests, savannas, deep and vast valleys and a specific kind of mountain called Tepui. There's also a vast diversity of fauna.
These Tepuis are really big stone formations that are oldest than the dinosaurs, they are mountains that have been around since the earth itself started fomating, when pangea started developing its first rock formations and its fauna. The Tepuis are the most famous thing in La Gran Sabana, they are very difficult to climb, so the most common way to get up them is by helicopter, they tend to be so big that you can see their beauty standing long away from them.
In the picture bellow you can see 5 of the 7 Tepuis in the area of the Gran Sabana, the one on the right is popularly named Kukenan Tepui, it is one of the most famous and it has a height of 2,680 meters (8,790 ft). (There are lots of other Tepuis in the rest of the Canaima National Park)
It was an amazing experience being around all this, one of this life-changing expeeriences that fills you and makes you more human, more nature aware. So i'll be posting more about this.
