Marientali Park....Today we will spend here. I invite all of you.
25 kilometers from St. Petersburg is this amazing fortress. Its battlements and tower, it resembles a real knight's castle. The fortress was built in 1798 by architect V. Brenna.
In the 18th century these lands were captured by Sweden. After the victory in the Northern war, this territory was again ceded to Russia.
Empress Catherine donated a small plot of land to his son Paul the First and his wife.
Paul had a dream - to build a real castle. And now it came true. The citadel was built in 3 years.
In people, this castle got the name - Big toy Paul.
During the great Patriotic War (1941-1945) the Bastion of Emperor Paul was completely destroyed.

In 2004, the Bastion was under long-term lease to private hands with the condition of full restoration.
In 2009, the castle and the territory of the fortress was completely restored and opened to the public. Now here is a hotel and restaurant.
I chose for you the video. Do not take 2 minutes of your time. It's worth seeing. Panoramic view from the top.
Let there be more we have these patrons , businessmen and entrepreneurs....then we'd be able to use them to recover even more of the beautiful old buildings.
Thank you for reading my blog and for your comments.
