Hello, friends! A little architecture for a Sunday walk. Oranienbaum. Why such a strange name for this place? Well, it's very simple.

According to legend, it is said that Emperor Peter the great strolling through the Palace of his friend on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, saw a greenhouse with rare trees, where one of them had a funny name "Oranienbaum" and laughed. So according to the historical legends and left this name.

After all this history this tree formed the basis of the coat of arms of the new city. But historians still believe that this beautiful citrus with bright fruits grew here before the arrival of count Menshikov. Therefore, the German combination of Orange (orange) with the addition of Baum (wood) looks quite reasonable.

It is a typical country residence of that era. Nowadays people come here for walks in the big old Park to hear the stories and legends of that time and just to touch the luxury of Russian tsars.

Despite the dozens of changed owners who had this territory at different times; despite the second world war, which had a great destructive effect in this region; despite the Soviet time, this model of architecture was able to reach us almost in its original form. According to some historical data, it is known that this residence was built by architect Rastrelli and was originally intended as a place for balls, important receptions and various entertainment purposes.

I also found it interesting this kind of a long colonnade, but only find it difficult to wait for the moment that it was deserted, there was always someone trying to pass it :), thank you for watching :)

Thanks for sharing this royal place..
Awesome photographs my friend..

The hallway in the image seems to have no end, and looks like it is going on and on!

The luxury is quite evident in the images even if they're exterior images. Can't wait to see how the interiors would look. Thanks!
