Guiwanon Cold Spring: A Summer Must!

   Summer is fast approaching and I am listing down the places I would likely recommend as a summer must destination. Beat the heat with this first summer must: Guiwanon Cold Spring, Tabogon, Cebu. 

   Tabogon is a Municipality in the northern side of Cebu, Philippines. The northern part of Cebu is well known for a plethora of pristine beaches and scenic escapes. To get to Tabogon, take a bus ride from Cebu North Bus Terminal going to Tabogon - the transportation fee depends whether the bus is regular or air conditioned – or you can take the van transport also.

   Although Tabogon is just the next municipality directly south of Bogo City, there is no public transport directly going to the said cold spring. We went by private transport using a motor bike to get there. There are also motor bike (habal-habal) drivers that can take you for a fee. From Bogo City it takes more or less an hour to reach the destination using an alternative route. The long ride and the muddy, under construction roads won’t matter; Mother Nature is at its best giving out breathtaking scenes as you pass by. 

   Upon reaching our destination, I paused for a moment to take in all its beauty. The heat of the sun was warm on my skin, the feeble wind wisps through the trees and the crystalline water was such a delight. The water is free flowing and it was overwhelmingly cold (of course!). There are also small nipa huts (cottages) and life jackets of which you can rent. 

   It was early January of the current year when we went there and hopefully the rates haven’t changes yet. I totally forgot the other rates but these are the basics.

   Guiwanon Cold Spring is the downright destination this summer. It’s a great place to unwind, de-stress and pause the busy life for once.
