Intro
This summer I got a job at Princeton University so, I will be living in West Windsor Township for 2 months. I have never been to New Jersey before so I've got a lot of exploring to do.
3 Weeks
I just finished my third week in New Jersey, here are some pictures.
Delaware River Water Gap
(1.5-2hr from West Windsor)
The Delaware River Water Gap National Recreation Area covers a large region of both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. There is so much more to see there than what I saw in my 1.5 days in the area.
AMC Mohican Center- Appalachian Trail
The AMC Mohican Center is next to Catfish Pond. It has a public beach, kayak/canoe rentals, campsites, facilities, and an information center. The Appalachian Trail runs through the center with several smaller trails connecting the Trail back to the center. I did a out-and back hike via the Appalachian Trail.

Sunfish Pond, ~5 miles from the AMC Mohican Center. Over halfway between the Mohican Center and the Delaware Water Gap. There were some other trails from Sunfish Pond that we explored a bit but, we were unsure where they lead so they supplied us with just a short detour before we turned around and went back to the Mohican Center (via AT).
Mt. Tammany
Mt. Tammy is right at the Delaware Water Gap, giving a great view of PA and NJ. The hike is under 4 miles. The red trail up is short and steep and has multiple overlooks to the region. The blue trail down is more of a gradual decline and longer. It goes past streams that have small waterfalls.

View of Mt. Tammany from PA, across the river. On the main road parallel to the river in PA there are several stops where more hikes (trails not well marked...) and overlooks are possible.
Institute Woods
(10 min from West Windsor)
Trails right in Princeton that spread between the Charles Rogers Wildlife Refuge, Princeton Battlefield State Park, and the D& R Canal trails.
