So, if you read my previous blog (https://steemit.com/travel/@melonsonamission/the-idiots-guide-to-moving-abroad) you will know that I am currently living in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I thought I would explain this time how I am surviving here and how my job came to be. I currently work for an Italian restaurant called Il Forno, which is rated as one of the best Italian restaurants in Siem Reap and I have to say, I cant complain. My manager Marzio is an awesome guy to work with, he has been, and still is a very understanding guy when it comes to the situation I was in and when it comes to things such as visas and general travel related sickness ( Don't ask as i'm sure you can guess :-).
My manager Marzio
This job came about as a good friend of mine left the job to visit Thailand for a few weeks (I'll introduce them soon don't worry). Basically when he left I had just finished spending all of my savings, which meant, if I didn't find some work soon, it was home time for me! Since I knew that my friend had left, I literally turned up at the restaurant and said "I heard you guys need someone to hold a menu on pub street?" to which he replied "I do! When can you start?". Obviously my answer was "Today!" and I've been doing that ever since. Also at this point, as I had no money, I started working for my accommodation at Garden Village Guest House.

I worked there the last time I was here in Asia and I am very close with a few of the staff and a lot of the expats who frequent the place. This definitely helped get me out of the no money hole and start recuperating some cash as I was living off of coupons at the hostel, not paying for accommodation and also earning money for my next visa renewal with a meal included from the restaurant. Problem solved! This is a great tip for anyone traveling and working as a lot of people work for there accommodation around the world. It is a great way to meet people, It also was a great way to network to find myself my first photography job EVER! So make sure you follow my blog so to find out how I wrangled myself that one....
