in travel •  7 years ago

Hello dear friends Steemians

I greet you from my little corner of Steemit, where again I have the opportunity to connect with you and show you the second part of my journey through the beautiful city of Mérida, my beautiful Venezuela, English version. This trip was truly unforgettable, I could see that my country was blessed from every point of view, I was recommended to visit the Botanical Garden and do not hesitate to take my camera, some sweets and visit that place....

What is a Botanical Garden?
It is a center that is dedicated to maintaining the appropriate conditions for the development and maintenance of plants from different environments, in an area accessible to the community, as a result of a series of coordinated scientific and technical researches, in order to make the community aware of the richness of plant diversity.

The Centro Jardín Botánico de Mérida was founded in 1991 by the Universidad de Los Andes for the preservation and research of regional flora and fauna. The garden occupies an area of 44 hectares, divided into zones depending on the type of flora existing on the site.

The botanical garden is located at the northern end of the city of Merida, adjacent to a natural forest on the banks of the Albarregas River and neighboring the Chorros de Milla Zoo.

Due to its geographical location at 1850 meters above sea level in the Venezuelan Andes, the botanical garden of Merida has an annual temperature of 12-20 °C and a monthly relative humidity of 74-81%.1 The botanical garden offers guided tours, theme gardens, tree climbing and much more.

In the guided talks, we were told that they housed (in their best times) some 12,000 live plants in cultivation in which they highlight: small lakes with aquatic and humid plants, cloud forest, medicinal plants, geometric garden, rose garden, among others.

Several activities are carried out in the Botanical Garden of Merida, promote the conservation of endangered species, carry out studies of medicinal plants, from their contributions to their uses, studies of biotechnology, ecology, preservation of ecosystems, horticulture and many more..

In addition to its extensive vegetation, the garden has recreation areas that attract tourists, the most popular is called Air Path, for this activity, a series of platforms were installed at about 15 meters high in different trees and between climbing, ropes and moving bridges end up on firm ground in a fun trip on the so-called tyrolean or zip line, always accompanied by a safety protection team under the supervision of the managers of the place.

An activity that fills you with adrenaline and expectations.... even if it looks easy, you have to keep your balance and strength both in your arms and legs to pass the journey successfully..

Really a totally different day, where I could enjoy nature, fresh air, fun and learning in the company of my family, culminating the trip with the enjoyment of a delicious picnic, in the delicate green of the place.

Nice place @melvadg. In India, finding botanical garden is quite rare. We also have lots of park in our locality. Botanical gardens are present only in tourist places and Hill stations. I think the number of botanical gardens should be increased. Hope the govt will take some initiatives. Nice post.

It would be a great change, these places are fantastic, thanks for visiting.
