WEST EDMONTON MALL!
Time for another, loooong, descriptive post by Merlot Mama, so grab that wine and get readin!! personally, i have not been here since about grade 8 when I was in junior high school and on a band trip. insert geek emoji here🤓🤓 that was ROUGHLY 15 ish years ago. I didn't go shopping, we went to the water park, therefore, this time was the opposite and … let me tell you, I SPENT SOME COOOOOIN. (actually my lover did, thank you very much @ate-bit-dave)
at one point in time, among discussion, we believed that the mall was the biggest mall in the WORLD. Although upon googling, we discovered that it is actually the 5th biggest mall in the world, It was the biggest mall up until 2004. BUT, it is the biggest mall in North America... so we win that one! West Edmonton mall has over 800 stores, a theme park with huge roller-coasters and a water park … ALL INDOORS! The mall has 2 hotels, over 100 dining establishments and can park up to 20,000 cars.
we had a lovely "blast from the past", lot's of walking, eating and sight-seeing. We joked cause as we were leaving, we parked in entrance 50, we go to the mall directory, and it tells you "turn left, past the ice rink, past the amusement park and to the left is entrance 50, but if you hit the pirates ship, you have gone to far" now, how many times can you say that sentence out loud in your life? Despite the crowds or people and sore feet, we had a fabulous time and we would go back again in a heartbeat!
to follow the West Edmonton mall, we also visited another large establishment in the City. The Royal Alberta Museum. We did not want to just sit in the hotel all day, and we extended our stay by one day so we could explore the city a little more. The museum is a museum of human and natural history, similar to the museum we have here in Winnipeg. It is nestled right downtown in Edmonton and is actually the largest museum in Western Canada, with it being a total size of 419,000 square feet.
The museum was 1st established in 1967 and it features such things like gallaries exploring albertas natural & cultural worlds, a bug room with different LIVE bugs form around the world, and the best part … an interavtive 7,000 square foot area dedicated to children of all ages! (when you become a parents, this is a great thing for even a 5 month old!)
here are some highlights from the museums bug exhibition. I hate bugs WITH A PASSION although this was too cool to not document on our trip.

NOW, onto something much more cuter... my 5 month old LOVING her life in the discovery zone for children. #youarewelcome #cutenessinabottle
