Lower Latourell Falls - Oregon Waterfall

in travel •  6 years ago

After checking out the upper falls (https://steemit.com/travel/@mickeybeaves/upper-latourell-falls-oregon-waterfall), we very happily began heading downhill (for the most part) towards the lower falls! @haileyscomet and I had already seen the top of the falls, while on the way to the upper falls, but you couldn't actually see the falls for a photo but could hang right off the edge. Of course I stayed waaaaay back and had a near anxiety attack as Hailey dangled her feet over the top of it! (https://steemit.com/adventure/@haileyscomet/living-life-on-the-edge)

The hike down was very nice, but we were second guessing ourselves that it was how you got to the viewing bridge we saw at the beginning. After much debate, we ended up finding it no problem and got to pass a beautiful bridge along the way that really was stunning (I have a thing for architecture and bridges). We then turned the bend and saw the amazing falls and little wooden bridge. It was gorgeous! And wow, the rock structure behind the falls was just incredible. The rocks grew just like Tourmaline crystals do. Not to mention there was incredible color coming form the yellow and green algae.

The whole vibe was just so awesome and we highly recommend this hike where you can see both of these falls without too much effort. As we mentioned before, this is the closes falls to Portland, so you should start or end a day here, and with the incline, I would say start here and then go to Bridal Veil and work your way up the river.

Shot with a Canon 6-D DSLR with a TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II Tilt-Shift Lens.
