Moscow Trip Part 3

in travel •  7 years ago

Welcome back everyone to my Moscow Trip Part 3, if you haven’t read Part 1 and 2 please go ahead and do so. Otherwise let’s dive back into this beautiful city.

What so great about Moscow is that it’s the city of contrasts full of different people, different architecture. This city is incredibly fast paced and only the strongest thrive there. Moscow has a lot of billionaires, therefore it is very luxury driven city in terms of entertainment but like Coco Chanel said, “The best things in life are free, and the second best things are very very expensive.” This quote fits Moscow like a glow, so lucky you if you are traveling on the budget and do not wish to drown yourself and your credit card in endless indulgence you can enjoy Moscow for free, just walk…

Sometimes it’s just nice to walk around by yourself consumed in thoughts, or sit on the bench near the pond just feeding swan. Now you get to do all that if you take a stroll down the Patriarch Ponds. This is a very historical area mentioned frequently by our beloved literary talents such as Bulgakov. Nowadays it’s one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Moscow. If I would live anywhere in Moscow I would live there- beautiful pond with swans, small charming streets, pre war buildings, latest designer stores and great restaurants. What else does one need to satisfy their aesthetic preferences?

That day I spend about two hours in that area, sitting on the bench reading the Golden Era novels. When it was time to get some food I decided to check out the famous Vogue Cafe

Chic interior, and modern cuisine, and lots of beautiful girls. Located in Kuznetskiy Most neighborhood, which is another trendy place that was beautifully done- again great restaurants, latest designers and it’s right in the middle of everything. Walk through the park and you are already in New Arbat, super convenient. Tourist love it!

When the evening came I decided to go to one of my favorite bars in Moscow called Kalina Bar
I like places with great views so this is one of these places. Amazing view, great cocktails and food. The cool thing is it’s open until 6am or so, could be a great place if you’re not ready to end your night yet. This place is more on the expensive side but you’re basically paying for the view.

By the way everytime I go to Moscow and it’s cold I always wear my fur or wool coats, fur boots and my babyshka shawl ;)

The obnoxious fur coats that got me weird looks in NYC always saved me in Moscow because fur keeps you so warm. I think it has something to do with childhood memories, when my mother used to come home wearing her fur coat. I would hug her at the door. So I still remember the feeling of cold fur on my cheek, and the scent of perfume and fresh snow.
This type of look is pretty in during colder seasons, and it reminds me of my roots…

So if you haven’t been to Moscow now is the great time to go.
