Exposed by both natural processes and short period of quarry operation, made of quartz porphyry, Wielislawka Organ Pipes is a landmark that is hard to miss. Placed on the side of Wielislawka Mountain (a 200 million year old volcano), huge pinkish pillars form nearly 80m tall vertical wall that turns into hard slope on both sides.
A trail leads around and up the mountain, through mixed forest filled with old trees.
The forest grows mostly undisturbed, when trees fall they are consumed by fungi and covered with moss and ferns.
There was once a castle on top of the mountain, however only a piece of thick wall and a partially buried tunnel is all that's left.
The mountain hides a 100m long cave (actually whole system of caves) - partially natural, partially man made, however common sense told me not to visit it alone, especially without helmet and some reliable source of light (other than a smartphone). Also officially it is not available to public.
At the bottom, near Kaczawa river, there is a hotel/restaurant placed in old watermill. The restaurant specializes in goose meat. I can definitely recommend it :o)
