A week in Spain

in travel •  7 years ago

Sorry for not putting this post up yesterday, I was exhausted and very busy (not a good combination), so I decided to delay it a day.

I have previously lived in Spain, so in that sense it is not a very new and exciting place for me, but I love it nonetheless. I spent the week in my family’s apartment in Benalmadena, by Costa Del Sol, but I also visited Malaga, Fuengirola and Estepona, so I have a lot to talk about! I will be dividing this blog post into the places/cities I went to, talking about what I deem interesting at each place I went to.

Benalmadena:
Benalmadena is the city I lived in for 3 years, so I pretty much know the city inside and out. I did not visit any new places while I was here, but I did go to my favourite vegan restaurant, Nigella Bistro, where my dad and I had their homemade tomato soup. The tomato soup was absolutely divine, and my dad, who is not vegan, said he would gladly go back for that soup alone. - So I deem that as very successful! Otherwise I spent a bit of time with one of my closest friends, who lives in Benalmadena, and I ate lots and lots of oranges fresh from an orange farm :)

The amazing oranges plucked from the orange trees

Fuengirola:
I was supposed to go here to get a tattoo, but the place was unfortunately closed. Instead, my dad and I went to this new café in town, named Organic Café. We shared the hummus platter for a starter (it was gorgeous!), had pizzas for a main course and I had a chocolate mousse for dessert. This is only my second time trying a vegan cheese pizza, and it was absolutely amazing! A bit oily, but very tasty, and I will highly recommend ordering it if you are ever going to Fuengirola. The vegan chocolate mousse though, a complete game changer! I have never had a dessert as tasty as that mousse, it was so damn delicious (and very pretty looking). The whipped cream was great, the strawberries were tasty, the chocolate sauce was good and the actual mousse was out of this world! Seriously guys, if you are ever in the area, please go to this café and order the chocolate mousse, it is so worth it!

The godly chocolate mousse!

Malaga:
I did not really do much in Malaga, I only spent a few hours here. I am not a big fan of this city, as I find it confusing and crowded, but I did nonetheless spend a bit of time with my close friend and her ”boyfriend” (it is not official yet, hence the ””). We did not really do much, we went out for a few drinks and a bit of food, and then we went back to his place and watched the adorable film Zootopia.

Estepona:
Estepona is about an hour drive away from Benalmadena, and the only reason I went here is because the university I am going to this autumn is located here. The university is named Schellhammer Business School, and it is an absolute dream! There are two people apartments available, so you can live on campus while going to the school, the grocery stores are quite close, there are three gyms at the campus, and there is a restaurant at the campus. The school also offers a cleaning service for those who are too lazy to clean their apartments, so that is great 😜
Other than visiting the university, my dad and I also met up with one of his childhood friends who he has not met in over 20 years! She was lovely, and her daughter was adorable (she is 10 y/o and a small genius!). All in all, I really fell in love with Estepona and cannot wait to move there in a few months!

A beautiful park in the city centre of Estepona, the weather was a bit gloomy though

I really enjoyed my stay in Spain, and cannot wait to go back! Where is a place you guys enjoy spending time? :)
