A lot of people claim to be a “Thalassophile” or someone who loves the sea/ocean. A few feels “Thalassophobic”, and some people just hate going to the beach or being in the sand under the sun light with salt air.
However, going to the beach may actually be beneficial to our health — physically, mentally and emotionally. I’ve even read in an article that it can also boost our immune system. The heat of the sunlight (not excess heat though), the relaxing sound of waves, comforting scrubbing feeling of sand on our feet, fresh salt air, the beautiful whole view and all that you could imagine.
The journey going to the beach, that long road trips to get there is what makes it more exciting and exhausting at the same time, but trust me, once you get there, everything will be worth it.
Now let me give you a few photos that I took from some of the many beautiful beaches here in the Philippines.
Let’s start with my very first out of town trip with my friends in Mati, Davao.
Mati, officially the City of Mati is a 5th class city and capital of the province of Davao Oriental, Philippines. “Amihan sa Dahican” in Mati is famous for skimboarding.
You can literally see them fly while wave riding. And they run very fast, too. 😂
Next is Camiguin Island. Known for a beautiful white-sand beach with a mountain view, ruins and very perfect for relaxing with friends or family.
There are a lot of fun activities there, too! Plus the relaxing hot and cold springs where you can really chill.
Next is El Nido, Palawan. Yep, you’ve heard that place a couple of times already, and yes, it is real paradise.
It is best known for majestic rock formations, small and big lagoons.✨
There are also a lot of fun activities which includes beach parties, ofcourse, surfing (seasonal) and kayak.
Next is Badian, Cebu. One of their points of interest is the Kawasan Falls (which is actually located in Moalboal but very near in Badian.)
It has a natural gatorade-like swimming pools and lagoons. The journey climbing up for a lot of different waterfalls is so much fun and exhausting 😂 This is well known for canyoneering, and you can actually do it at your own risk, minus the helmet, but please make sure you have someone well-experienced for these kinds of trips to go to.
Last is my all time favorite, Siargao Island. A lot of you must have heard about this island or have been here, especially the surf enthusiasts.
There are actually a lot of fun things to do in Siargao, not just surfing. One of the “must experience” is the Magpupungko.
It has a natural rock formations and tidal pools. Mother nature gave us an outdoor natural jacuzzi. Aint that awesome?👌🏻
These are just a glimpse of your “to go next” so you will be more convinced to visit the Philippines.
Need not to worry because I will be posting more stuff like this, specific to each place I've been to so you will have a quick tour (through pictures) of these islands, relaxing resorts, surf spots, beach/island parties and a little itinerary once you get there.
Don’t forget to check my next blog for these beautiful places and beaches to visit here in the Philippines and to feel a little bit of an island life!
If one would not make a "Thalassophile" after looking at those pictures, then I don't know what. I like the play of words here: phile means loving and phobic means fear. I also liked the "gatorade-like" description of the pool. I'm amazed that you have traveled the three divisions of the Philippines: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
The feeling of experiencing to be one with nature is indeed subtle. I just hope that with all your travels, conservation of the environment is observed. Furthermore, since you obviously love nature, kindly help me in my advocacy to protect the environment at all cost.
Excellent captures by the way.
