The Cathedral of Yucatan, in the city of Merida, capital of the state, dedicated to San Ildefonso, this is the seat of the archdiocese of Yucatan and the first the first to be built in America, and it is also the oldest in Mexico.
Once the Spanish city was built over the ancient city of T'Hó, the conquerors set out to build the cathedral. The work was built between 1562 and 1599, after the authorization of Pope Pius IV and the request of King Philip II, the church was named in the cathedral of the capital of Yucatan.

La Catedral de Yucatán, en la ciudad de Mérida, capital del estado, dedicada a San Ildefonso, es la sede de la archidiócesis de Yucatán y la primera que se construyó en América, y también es la más antigua de México.
Una vez que la ciudad española se construyó sobre la antigua ciudad de T'Hó, los conquistadores se dispusieron a construir la catedral. La obra fue construida entre 1562 y 1599, después de la autorización del Papa Pío IV y la solicitud del rey Felipe II, la iglesia fue nombrada en la catedral de la capital de Yucatán.
