Hawaii's Stick Figures in Peril

in travel •  7 years ago

While @donvee and I were in Hawaii for our honeymoon 10 years ago, we noticed so many signs warning people of danger. Falling rocks, rip currents, hazardous cliffs - it seemed like everywhere we went we were putting our lives at risk!

We began to affectionately call these poor stick figures who were constantly drowning, falling off cliffs, or being crushed by rocks, "Stick Figures in Peril." Here are a few gems that we came across on our 10-year anniversary trip last October.

These first few photos were taken while hiking Diamond Head on Oahu. It didn't seem like a very strenuous hike, but there was someone being life flighted out of the park while we were there. The danger is real.

This was taken along our drive from Waikiki to the North Shore.

This gold mine was seen while we hiked Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Trail.

It was a great hike, but I'd worry about dehydration if you didn't bring along any water. I'm not sure why they don't come up with a picture of a dehydrated stick figure.

It's pretty late here at home so I'll continue with Stick Figures in Peril on the Big Island some other time. Thanks for taking the time to check out my post!
