Year-round Destination: Breckenridge  

            Breckenridge was a product of the gold rush. It has a similar purpose as that of Las Vegas: to cater to the needs of the workers panning for gold. Today, Breckenridge is a town that is popular as a vacation destination. The town is located in Summit County, Colorado.

           You can drive to Breckenridge by taking the I-70 if you’re point of origin is Denver or Boulder. Take Exit 203 to State Highway 9 and you will get to the town. If you do not want to drive, you can take the Colorado Mountain Service. They can pick you up from any Denver location and drop you to your hotel in Breckenridge.

If you prefer flying, take any flight to the Denver International Airport. There are rides that will take you to Breckenridge in one to two hours. The closest airport though is Eagle/Vail Airport. When you arrive, there are also rides that can take you to Breckenridge.

          Winter is Breckenridge’s most popular season. The season usually begins early in November until late in April. Travelers head there for alpine skiing in Breckenridge Ski Resort. The ski resort boasts of four towering peaks and five terrain parks. The destination is perfect for the entire family regardless of ski expertise. Getting to the ski resort has also become more convenient with the gondola lifts that have been installed. 

If you don’t enjoy skiing, you can still enjoy other winter activities in Breckenridge like snowboarding, fly fishing, dog sledding, skinning, fat bike tours, and snowshoeing. Lessons and ski classes are also available.

         Breckenridge, though, is an all-year round destination. In spring, you can still ski while avoiding the crowds. Summer brings the mountains of Breckenridge in full view. Hiking, biking, and horseback riding are activities that you can enjoy in Breckenridge’s numerous trails. For those who want more adrenaline rush, whitewater rafting in the Blue River is a popular activity.

Summer is still a busy season for Breckenridge with a number of festivals you can book your trip around. Independence Day celebration in Breckenridge is usually from July 4-8 that starts off with a 10K trail run, Firecracker 50 mountain bike race, and a parade in Main Street. Summer Beer Festival also brings beer brewers around Beaver Run and Resort Conference Center. 

Those are just a few of the many festivals that you can enjoy in the summer. Fall in Breckenridge is calmer but not any less beautiful. It can very well be the most picturesque season in Breckenridge with the mountain side turning into all colors. Leaf peeping is one of the popular activities in Breckenridge.

            You can enjoy the best views in Boreas Pass. Oktoberfest is also another event that is big during fall in Breckenridge. If you missed Oktoberfest, you can also catch the Wine Classic festival and the Craft Spirits festival.

             Regardless of the season that you go though, don’t miss Main Street. Here you can shop from the many independent retailers and dine in the restaurants with picturesque views. Breckenridge has everything for anybody at any time of the year.
