                     Lucerne is a compact city that is situated in the snow capped mountains of Lake Lucerne. The city is known for its beautiful infrastructure and the preserved medieval architecture. It is a city that has a rich history. In 1290, Lucerne was declared a self-sufficient city since it had a satisfactory population of around 3000 inhabitants. King Rudolph gained reign over Monastery of St. Leodegar and its land including Lucerne.

           On June 2007, people from the city of Lucerne and the adjustment town of Littau passed a referendum to merge to form a new city which is still called Lucerne. The climate in the city is conducive for people from all corners of the globe. 

It is known to attract a huge number of tourists on a yearly basis because of its historically rich and beautiful infrastructure. The fresco-adorned historic houses are lined in the streets of the city and therefore from the main tourism attractions.

         The city is a big source of revenue for the Government of Switzerland, thanks to its good-looking, beautiful, memento shops, the beautiful lakeside sceneries, and the nearby mountains that surround the city. 

At the center of Lucerne’s township there is a mediaeval chapel Bridge, which is considered to be one of the oldest, covered, wooden bridges in Europe.  

           The city has many more landmarks that are also attractive to the people touring central Switzerland. Another very important landmark is the Museggmauer.

           This is a wall that has been preserved in its original state with the extension of one of its towers. The city is entrenched within a remarkable mountain panorama. Talk about Lucerne’s regional mountains, the Pilatus and Rigi, which are the queen of the mountains.  

            Lake Lucerne is also attractive. It has many bends and arms that are certainly no less worth a tourist’s time. Lucerne city is easily accessible from Zurich and Zurich airport. The place can also be accessed through road, water and railway. 

The Gotthard Panorama ferries people to the bottom of the Gotthard pass via Lake Lucerne and then the passengers will continue by railway to Ticino south of the Alpine ridge.
