Visiting Rhine Falls

in travel •  2 years ago

During this trip wherever I travelled it got back some old memories, though very faint as there has been a long time gap since the last I had visited. Same with Rhine falls, I barely remembered the place and wanted to visit it once more and got the opportunity while I was in Switzerland. I will not say they are one of the best falls, but yes they are good and ok to visit it once. It's also close by the Zurich so not much of travelling time goes to visit this place. During the morning time we were in Lucerne and by mid afternoon we were returning back to Zurich, I was thinking how to spend the rest of our time, and then it came to my mind that we could make a visit to Rhine Falls.

The last time I had visited was almost 23 years ago and I did not remember at all how to reach this place. It was not at all difficult to figure it out and thanx to internet that it always gives answers to almost everything. The website Rome2Rio is a very handy one, I must say. It gives accurate details of how to travel from one destination to other will all modes of transport including giving bus Nos, and train line details. I have been using this only for all my travel, found it very useful.

From Zurich HB we took a train to Neuhausen station and the station connects to the elevator which goes down straight to the garden area of the Rhine falls. By the time we reached there it was around 6.20. We missed the boat ride as that closes at 6 p.m. Hubby was very eager to do the boat ride but hard luck, we then just spent the time at the falls and returned back. At the place we also met quite a few other Indian tourist, it was nice to meet our local people and chit chat with them. Actually wherever we travelled we always found some or the other local and got to know them.

This is one of the most clear picture that I got of the falls. The yellow water taxi you see there, gives a half an hour ride near and around the area of the falls. We missed this one, may be next time :-)

It was quite a walk around the whole place, and it was drizzling also, but was nice.

There is a mini train which brings you from the station to the falls center place. There is a additional charge to it. It is good for people who have walking difficulty.

I am not sure what exactly this is, found it interesting so clicked it

That was it, after this we returned back to our hotel. It was exhausting since we were on our feet the whole day but worth it. When on holidays I want to make the most of that place and not spend my time indoors in hotel room.

Hope you all enjoyed the pictures. Wishing everyone a happy weekend.

I visited in the 80s with some friends on the way back to Germany from our annual winter holidays near Einsiedeln. When we arrived there, there was some construction going on, no water! They had diverted it somehow. At the top of the falls there were sandbags in the river bed, so we walked across were there normally would be lots of raging water. One of my friends coined the phrase "So ein Reinfall, der Rheinfall!" "Such a flop, the Rhine Falls!" 😉

That must have been such a disappointment. Though I do not find anything great about these falls, they are just very normal ones. For me it was just reliving the moment of 25 years back.

The falls are beautiful. It's good that they were able to admire them and chat with tourists of the same nationality.
Too bad her husband couldn't enjoy the boat ride because they closed early. Despite that, they had a great time. Thank you very much for sharing. Good day.

Yaaa, most of these things shut down by 6, so you need to be mindful of the time when you visit. It was a pleasant expereince
