The mystery of the Inyangani mountains

It is quite intriguing when one is surrouned with the mystery of the Nyangani mountains in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe, the highest mountain in Zimbabwe. The area is so exquisite, being surrounded by other beautiful sites like the Nyangombe falls, Mutarazi falls, the pungwe just to name a few.

The place is a beauty, it brings peace, the sound of the birds sings gives this calmness, the wind blowing gives this essesence of a free spirit.

Talking to elders of the land, Inyangani mountain is shadowed with many mysteries amd have had stories that have tried to explain what actually happens there.

Not criticising any belief, there are too many therioes that try to figure out why the mountain is called to be sacred.

Many people have heard the stories about the disappearance of children, foreigners who had gone for a tour. Traditional people, had to consult the Spirit Mediums (Ancestors) to intervene though it was of no help . Stories have circulated around about the mountain being the house of spirit and that people should be well mannered and observe its sacredness, or otherwise they will anger the spirits.

Most disppearance have been labellled the punishment from the Spirits for not observing the rules when touring the mountain.

The people are told not to pass bad comments to anything they find, should not laugh( mockery) at any observation likely to be found in the mountain like trees with breats, talking clay pots among other mysteries.

Failure to follow these among others have be named the reason why many people to get lost and never be found in the mountains.

Some have disappeared and after spirit consultation, answers such as he or she was favoured by the god. The tales about the mountain are endorsed with such great wonder about the mountain being home to magic creatures like mermaids etc.

It is sucha mystery!

There comes another explaination to try and figure out the disappreance of people in the past years. Before anything else, the tour guides and even the warning sign states clearly

"Be down the mountain by 3 pm!"

If people can take a closer look, by the stated time mist will be howering on top of the mountain such thick mist that can easily get lokst and never be found without a trace. The mist once it catches you up, you start to wonder around looking for where to go, you get lost, you become unfortunate, you eaten by the night predators pr fall over a cliff and die and you know the rest.

This was also brought up with people refuting the idea that the mountain is sacred.
