BOHOL: the unexplored island of the Philippines

in travel β€’Β  7 years agoΒ

On November 18, 2016, we congratulate SAGADA ❀️, the country of the "Dead nose bars" heading to Manila 🚎 <✈️ then to an unexplored island of the Philippines, called BOHOL.

We documented it before we arrived and found out that it is known for the Chocolate Hills, the wonderful beaches and the little Tarsio.

In less than 1 hour flight we land ✈️ in Bohol, one of the 7,107 islands that make up the Philippine archipelago 🌴

Arriving on the island of Bohol we immediately find a location and a starter to vacate.

After that, riding our bike, we begin exploring the island

Wanderling we found ourselves without knowing it on Dumaluan Beach, where we could not keep our eyes open because the white sand dazzled us.

On this beach we felt literally lost in nothingness.

Wilderness, spectacular beaches, here we have seen in this corner of Paradise β˜€οΈπŸŒ΄

I believe in life we all wanted, or even just imagined, sometimes to live on a desert island.

Those dreams are by no means unworkable, because we've been in :-)

Meeting fishermen who shared their crop directly on the beach was on the agenda.

In the picture I captured fresh freshly picked fresh sea urchins πŸ˜‚ ❀️

We wondered, "How does the Filipino people go on Sunday?"

Here's the answer, by the sea fishing fish 🐠 🐟 🐑

A delicacy 😜 πŸ˜‚

During our rides to run into scenes of other times it was not that difficult. This video speaks alone.

Tarsier Conservation Area

Today we went to meet our friend, the smallest animal so far discovered by ethologists, an adult specimen hardly exceeds the size of a human hand ❀️

I see my eyes PLEASE

Our friend Tarsio has eyes that stand out most because of their "off-scale" dimension.

Even though they are huge, the eyes of the Tarsio are fixed and can not move within the orbit.

A disadvantage not long ago!
However, they are pinned by the great mobility of the neck of these primates, which can rotate their head in an arc that is over 180 degrees.

Let's get to know him personally now.

Who is TARSO? 😳

When this afternoon we met our TARSIO friend I felt an amazing ❀ em emotion.

We met some specimens who slept lazily under a leaf.

We can say that experience is exciting: it does not happen often to meet such a special animal close and free.

We are in the Tarsier Foundation where these animals are studied and observable in the semi-wild state.

This cute animal is at night.

A corpse of 10 cm long, with a tail that measures twenty.

It does not weigh more than 160 grams.

Despite its microscopic size it is able to jump 5 meters.

Great eyes distant from each other, bigger than his own brain.

It's a nocturnal animal so it's not very active in the daytime, and it's not easy to photograph it with your eyes open.

Unfortunately, Tarsio is an extinct species, but Bohol is doing everything to raise awareness and to preserve it.

Its looks are those of a very small monkey, so small that it can (potentially) be received in the palm of your hand.

In fact, this is a character of the Earth planet even older, since it is considered a "Pro monkey" (like the lemur), by virtue of its ancient age: 45 million years.

The beautiful thing is that, thanks to the curiosity of tourists, the center can finance and continue scientific studies and conservation projects of this species.

The experience is also very educational for the tourists themselves, who can understand the delicacy of nature's species and the spirit of sustainable tourism.

I ❀️ TARSIO

How do you not fall in love with ❀️ of the little Tarsio! His huge occhi eyes are almost mesmerizing.

We FEEL much TARSIERS.

CHOCOLATE HILLS

And after the nice TARGET πŸ’ CHOCOLATE HILLS, the chocolate hills 😜, on the island of Bohol, in the Philippines archipelago.

Their name derives from the fact that during the hot season the grass covering them, when it is dry, acquires a brownish color.

I ❀️ Chocolate

There are so many stories that revolve around this unique geological formation, the main tourist destination of the Philippines πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

According to a famous legend, the Chocolate Hills would be the fruit of the day-to-day struggle between two giants who, after rocking each other, would have peacefully decided to abandon the island.

But there is also space for the romantics: it is said that Arogo, a young and strong giant, in love with a dead maiden, Aloya, after the death of his beloved, wept so much that his tears were turned into hills as evidence Of the duration of his pain.

The spectacular hills, about 1176, ranging between 30 and 50 meters, are found in the cities of Carmen, Batuang and Sagbayan.

Heavies #ChocolateHills ❀️ with his stories.

Even here as in the rest of Asia, life flows in 3 ❀️ on a scooter

Beach: Alona Beach

Welcome to Alona Beach!

It is famous for its white beach 🐠 🐟

Caves: Cave Hinagdanan

Some beautiful things are not easy to see

This is the case of the Hinagdanan Caves.

A peasant one day discovered it and walked in using a bamboo cane.

The cave is stupid, stupid as we are.

Wandering with our bike on the island of Bohol we encounter natural beauty still in the pure state 🌴

Today we have tasted this delicacy called 'CALAMAY'

We stopped at this box office and this family welcomed us and made them even see their 🏑

What is it?
It is made of well-worked glutinous rice mixed with coconut milk and sugar.

It is perfect spread on bread 🍞
It has a sticky texture and sweetness.

With this sunset you can not be in love ❀️

I ❀️ the sunset

It is not the first time that happens to us and here we have been surrounded by these Filipino students πŸ‡΅πŸ‡πŸŽ€ to tourists.

They came to us first timidly and when we agreed to do the interview they were all agitated πŸ˜‚

When they knew that we came from Italy then they started screaming: "Italy, our DREAM" ❀️

Very pretty, they did a lot of questions, happy that we helped them in their schoolwork.

Hi girls!!!!! πŸ˜‚ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘

Pangangan Peninsula

The oddities of life!
Wandering around the island of Bohol with our bike, note on the map a peninsula named Pangangan.

We decide to go crawling and never imagine finishing in a guest house, run by a couple, Australian and Filipino, singing and dancing.

They were a shocking hospitality, Perlie Temby and her husband Bill.

They showed us all their home, they told us their story, offered to drink and then turned on the karaoke <🎀 we started dancing and singing.

Who would have imagined it πŸ˜‚ ❀️

They have a beautiful seafront guest house called " Isle of View "

Thanks again to ❀️ Perlie & Bill

Make your own ECO-FRIENDLY home and greet, you can ❀️

We have been thinking about BAMBU 'πŸ™Œ

Enthusiastic about our stay on this island, our journey continues.

We have a tide of islands to visit, time runs and so on 23 November 2016 we decide to leave Bohol Island to head to another Philippine island, take a boat and drive to Cebu Island to meet the Whale shark .

But we'll talk about this in the next article, stay tuned :-)
