Hi to all #steemit community!

I am excited to celebrate my first ever Songkran in Thailand. I love to explore and experience different cultures at different places and different countries. As I planned earlier with friends that I wanted to come to Thailand just for the Songkran Festival and now I made it!
I am here!!!

What is the meaning of Songkran

I believe many of you knows that Songkran is a water party or some say water fight with booze but actually is Thailand’s New Year Celebration. The reasons of pouring water actually represents purification and washing away sins or bad luck.

Why I choose “Pattaya” instead of our places in Thailand

Songkran celebration in Pattaya are much different compare with other places in Thailand. Other places of Thailand celebrates for 3 days only, from 13th April till 15th April but in Pattaya celebrate from 13th April till 19th April.
Is 7 days celebration party!!

Water festival actually celebrated by mostly young people. Most of the major streets are closed from traffic and they use for water fights like water splashing at each other, using water gun to shoot and many more but there are some rules, never splash on people who are not ready to join the party (for example when you just arrived checking in hotel with your proper attire or during when leaving Thailand).

Wet Affair

So basically during this event are more on waterfight and prepare to get wet.

Here I would like to share some pictures that I’m witnessed and also one of the water commander here in Pattaya, Thailand.

Woah so happening man 😆! Do you stay for the whole 7 days?

How I wish bro but unfortunately my max off day is just 5 days.

I bet you had fun 😀😁

This is my first experience how it feels during Songkran and is really fun!

We went a few years ago and had a great time. Tough to protect the camera though :)

One must a need water-proof pouch for phone, wallet and stuff.

But did anyone get pissed off being poured or shot at while you were there?

Yes you are right @prch. Waterproof pouch is a must but no one is mad about getting wet and I believe everyone are ready to get poured.
