美国纪念碑是为纪念美国总统乔治·华盛顿而建造，石碑建筑物的内部中空，是世界最高的石制建筑。石碑是以白色大理石建成方尖型，高度是169.3米，东面是国会大厦，西部是林肯纪念堂，北面是白宫，南面是杰佛逊纪念堂，内墙镶嵌著188块由全球各地捐赠的纪念石。登上169米高的华盛顿纪念碑，可俯瞰波托马克盆地全貌。美国政府于1899年宣布：“华盛顿特区任何建筑物的高度都不可以超过华盛顿纪念碑”。

其实我特别敬重Jefferson，一直认为独立宣言是美国的独立自主的精神的起源。
一个伟人所以伟大，除了他可以领导一个国家完成独立的过程，更难能可贵的是，当他完成之后，他可以挣脱权力和荣誉的捆绑，让一个国家真正朝着对国家整体有利的方向去发展。一直到今天，很多的国家的领导人都不能做到这一点。
