Climbing Castle Saint Elmo in Napels, Italy on foot through the old Quartieri Spagnoli, takes you away from the buzzing city, the castle itself, a medieval fortification, a high vantage point giving a 360° view over Napels, the bay and the wider area. Ofcourse dominating the view is the Vesuvius itself, the active volcano, that buried the surrounding lands, towns like Pompeii and Herculaneum under ashes, lava and mudstreams in 79.
