Sailing a Viking ship

in travel •  6 years ago  (edited)

Some years ago I volunteered sailing the biggest Viking ship built in modern times. It was a funny experience, but very very hard taking into account that everything was done by hand.

The ship is now in America, and anyone who feels for it can apply as crew. Visit the homesite and sign up, maybe you are among the lucky ones who will be chosen: https://www.drakenhh.com

You can see me in this video at 1.49 with my baird and shirt with white arms - in less than a second.

Ikke så ulikt en fembøring. Kult det der.

en veldig stor fembøring :o) 1200 kg seil med bom, så det er ikke lett for en gammel mann, been there done that - så overlater resten til ungdommen, en opplevelse å være med på uansett

Quite a boat and quite a ride.

Amazing ride, and amazing shipbuilding technology 😊the Viking had the fastest ships back in the days, no much comfort though.
