Hilton information!

in travel •  7 years ago

Alright guys!
I just started working at hilton grand vacations at sea world a few weeks ago and I figured I'd share some info that's publicly available, but that most people don't know.

To start :
• If you have a hilton honors account, use it when you book your reservation so you get your points! if you forget, call the hotel at any point before/during your stay and give them your hilton honors number, you'll still get your points!
• When you book, try your best to book directly though the hilton booking site, or hilton honors, you'll usually get the absolute best price, remember travel sites need to make money too, they tend to markup their prices! check of course but you'd be surprised how much you can save sometimes.
• If you have a special event going on, mention it at check-in you might get a nice little gift during your stay (candy, balloons, etc)
• If you stay at a resort (hilton grand vacations) or similar resort properties, there is usually a resort charge involved that generally is not included in your third party booking, at my location it's an extra $25 per night. This is usually to cover the amenities of a resort property, rather than a hotel. So keep that in mind when booking!
• Your front desk crew is allowed to take tips, if you feel like they've done awesome and you'd like to tip them, feel free.
• If you have any preferences for room location (higher floor, close to a pool, etc) mention them at check in, that's usually when we assign rooms. If you don't mention them, we just go with what the system gives us, and your view might be of a bunch of trees, a parking lot, or a highway.
• Right before every single shift we pull, we have what's called a pre-shift meeting, in which we discuss a few things, the biggest thing we discuss though is our guests to look out for, I'll spare you on the specifics, but these guests are the ones that have caused the most trouble. We don't care about how difficult a request is, but what we do care about is you coming down and making a scene for something small, like a towel request taking longer than normal.
• We're people too, we're stuck behind a desk for 8 hours checking people in, if you've got a particularly cool story, or you just wanna chat and there isn't much of a line, we'd love to talk to you!

Anyway this is just my experience currently which isn't much, if you guys have questions or anything this can turn into an AMA I suppose! Hope this helps some of you with your travels!
