The realm of dwarfs - exclusive for steemit

Hi fellow Steemians!

It is time for some original unpublished content.

Recently I visited the old market of Wrocław Breslau, one of the major cities in Poland. Besides offering a great cultural heritage, it is also the realm of dwarfs, who mainly "live" in the historical city center. The total population is not known to me, but there have to be at least 300 of these little guys in various spots. Some are pretty prominent while others tend to hide. It is said that if you have found all of them you have seen a great deal of the city.

So what's up with these guys? They originated from the Polish oppositional movement
"Alternative Orange", which protested against the communist regime in the 1980s. Sometimes they would dress up as dwarfs during their marches.
From 2001 on, more and more dwarfs came to the city...well, students of the University of Arts put them there. In 2009, the population reached almost 100. Since then the numbers have multiplied.
However, with only about 30 cm body size it is not expected that they will take over the city soon ;-)

On my next visit I am going to search for some more of these little fellows. Gotta catch 'em all ;-)

That's pretty unique. It reminds me of the city where I grew up. There we had giant painted bison all around town.

Where I live now, we have colorfully painted winged rhinos all over - it is kind of a mascot.
