Altit Fort
Hunza is one of the most beautiful cities in northern Pakistan. My this post is about my travel to the great and ancient Altit Fort in Hunza valley, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. The fort around 1100 years old, it was restored in 2007 with the help of Embassy of Japan in Islamabad, Pakistan and is now open for tourist, filming and local people for visit.
The word Altit means this side down and the area around the fort is inhabited by Burusho people. The people of Altit are said to belong to the white Huns, although not much research has gone into the matter. There are several theories about their origin but local indigenous origin holds much value among the people. (Wikipedia reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altit_Fort)
The pass is for 250 PKR, the money earned is used in keeping the fort clean and for music classes in evening for girls. I couldn't stay longer to see the class but our guide told that this is the only place in Hunza where they teach music to girls and surprizingly, we saw women working and making wooden huts, musical instruments, forks, spoons and other wooden things. #womenempowerment at it's best. I felt so proud!
They had a tradition of planting one walnut tree for celebrating opening of their new home, this is still there, so strong.

My best friend @mehwishpeter and our guide, Ali. Hunza local, he said I look like his youngest daughter, the sweetest!
Shower place/ swimming pool for queen and princesses
My favorite, so soft and warm. They put the wooden waste on this path for comfortable walking. Loved it <3
If you ever go to Hunza, people don't you miss this one. Such an amazing place to see and learn how much human race has changed. I had so many other pictures to share but thought I'd bore you all, hope my post brings smile on your face and makes you visit the beautiful Hunza and Altit Fort. Till my next post, adios!
