My First Time On A Long Train Ride

IMG_1628.JPG

I haven't been on a train ride this long my entire life. Somehow, it feels like second nature. Get on the train, look at the scenery, listen to music and ponder. There has been a lot to think about this ride, as this short trip may change my life.

To be honest with you guys, the seats aren't bad for coach. It's been approximately 7 hours I have been seated on one of these things, I'm about ready for it to be over but I'm also not complaining. Just wondering what business is like.

The wifi isn't too bad either, this time has been spent steeming it, uploading, catching up with my comments and fellow dtubedaily fam.

I did expect this route down south to be a bit more scenic, making it hard to get nice shots. The windows are super dirty too, but I'm not too upset with the way these turned out.

Pros of the Amtrak? They offer beer. Cons of the Amtrak? Both Spencer and I got this same meal and it came out to $35USD. Yikes, guess I will only be having one. I couldn't even finish this wrap, it was filled with questionable ingredients.

This particular train is called The Carolinian. We left at 7:25AM from Penn Station, NY and are arriving to our destination in North Carolina at 5:00PM. We go back home on Saturday and are taking the same route back. Now we know what to expect and know to bring some healthy snacks with us to get us by without having to empty out our pockets.

Have you guys been on the Amtrak before? I would love to hear about your experience!

Thanks for joining me,
Jane

I've taken Amtrak a number of times. They're really good. Yeah, food on the Carolinian is going to be expensive.

There's a regional train here called The Piedmont. Unfortunately, that one only has vending machines. Cheap? Yes. Nutritional, healthy, and filling? No. But it's a pleasant 3 and a half hour train ride between Raleigh and Charlotte.

Nice! Thank you for sharing. Train rides aren’t bad at all. Spencer and I were thinking traveling cross country but... eh not too sure if we like it THAT much lol

haha nice I like your style, At least you have wifi to steem!

Haha thank you!! And yup, I don’t know what I would be doing if I didn’t lol

Taking what the train/day/trip is giving you and not forcing it, nice. Hope the windows grimy enough to be used as a filter if the you come across some dope scenery further down the line.

Haha thank you!!

sooo cool! I haven't been on such a train in the US. Taken the bullet train in Taiwan and Japan before though. I always forgot we have them too, prob since Texas doesn't have one. hmmm boo about the wrap! :/

I think I've taken Amtrak once before from NYC to Syracuse - but this was a long time ago and I don't even remember what it was like. I don't think wifi was a thing back then either :)

I can say I've never been on an Amtrak but I've always wanted to take a trip just to check it out. In fact, I talked about it not that long ago, just catching a train up to Chicago or something for the experience.

You are a workaholic ehehe

ohhh gosh... don't leak all our gossips LOLOLOL

Haven't been on the Amtrak yet but I did take a bus to North Carolina once. Longest bus ride everrr!! And yes, not many nice views on the way there. I can imagine how you felt. Perfect time to catch up on those things though! Have fun in NC :)
