POP QUIZ - What should be your first stop once you get to Wisconsin?

Now @papa-pepper had not been all around the world, but he has traveled a bit around North America. On our recent trip to Wisconsin, we did it right! Are you ready for the answer of what should be the first stop?

CHEESE STORE!

SOMETIMES LIFE JUST WORKS OUT

A while after we finally put Illinois behind us on our trip up north, "Sweet Pepper" notified us that it was time for her to use the restroom. As you can tell from the photo above, even pulling in to the parking lot and getting unbuckled was not enough relief. When an potty-training two year old has to go, they have to go.

Fortunately, we were right near the exit for The Mousehouse Cheesehaus. Now I'm not really into killing birds with stones, but if I was, I think an opportunity like this could be called "killing two birds with one stone." Our little pepper could use the bathroom and we could pick up some cheese.

Being a family that blogs now, we took the photo opportunity in front of their custom van. The @little-peppers were excited about it too, since they know good cheese when they taste it.

What's a custom van without the custom plates?

ENOUGH PHOTOS IN THE PARKING LOT ALREADY - GET TO THE STORE!

After only a few minutes of photos in the parking lot we found the door and entered! Before too long our @little-peppers were empty (remember the bathroom) and we were checking out the cheese! (Trust me, it can be exciting.)

CHEESE CURDS

Cheese curds are a Wisconsin favorite. They are so tasty and when they are fresh, they even squeak when you bite into them. I was impressed with the selection that they had at The Mousehouse.

I picked up four varieties while we were shopping. There were many more that I would have liked to try, but I was impressed with the ones that we bought.

  • Ghost Pepper - So good and very hot! Nice stuff.
  • Wasabi - Not as hard-hitting as the Ghost Pepper, but still a spicy treat.
  • Original - A classic. Just the way it comes out!
  • Garlic Dill - This one was a pleasing curd as well. Good flavor that kept you wanting more!

One of the other things that I enjoy about shopping at cheese stores and cheese factories is that there are often so many other items to purchase. Hot sauces are often popular at stores like this and so are a variety of meat goods.

This one happened to have an excellent variety of fudge as well. It sure was beautiful to behold, and we just might have to put it on our list next time, but that is not what we came for.

It was the cheese that we had in mind! Though you cannot find it everywhere, they did have a type of Raw Milk Gouda. Cheese from raw milk is becoming increasingly rare commercially, we there are some companies that still produce it. For our family, we really enjoy it and our children like it too, so we usually try to locate some at stores like this. Sometimes we have to ask, but we can usually find some somewhere.

It was a great place to stop, and only proper that a cheese store would be the first place we checked out upon arriving in Wisconsin. Just look at the size of that bag that Red-Pepper is holding. Yeah, we bought some cheese!

In case you saw the last photo and wondered where Pinky-Pepper was, don't worry. She was enjoying a beef stick with another mouse in the entryway.

REALLY? CHEESE STORES?

Just in case some of you are wondering if Cheese Stores are actually popular, you should know that this is my third post about visiting a cheese store. I've blogged about another one in Wisconsin and one in Missouri too!

Hi again @papa-pepper Love your posts, love seeing you guys so happy, even if you aren't smiling I know you are inside.

Anyhow, I did want to thank you for supporting @cryptopie and up voting his posts. It does seem like he could really use our help. He is half way around the world, but Steem makes it possible to help no matter the distance. Amazing.

Again, thanks, and what ever other efforts you could do to spread his message would be awesome @papa-pepper

To be honest, you are the one that actually inspired me to do this seeing as how you yourself have done something similar but bigger even. Take care.

Thank you for that. I'm working behind the scenes with some folks right now. Thanks again!

Thanks for such an interesting and humorous at the same time post. My favorite kind of cheese is cheddar.
If you are a real cheese-lover what do you think about mozzarella? And lamber?

Cheesey post... but I love it!

Cheese is a food product made of milk that has the shape and taste in accordance with the milk used. Therefore, cheese still has some content similar to the milk used.

Provided that it is not consumed in excess and enough to meet the nutritional needs of each day, the content in the cheese can provide you various benefits.

The content of calcium, phosphorus, and protein in the cheese is good for dental health. Although not yet 100 percent of the research states that, but some studies claim that cheese such as mozarella and cheddar cheese can help in preventing the damage or dental fragility.

Great post @papa-pepper

AH yes. Many believe in certain foods, like cheese, being able to help keep teeth strong.

cheese is also beneficial for pregnant women and babies in the womb😊

@papa-pepper
Want to find a cheese here to taste.
It's a real state! I know how some of these books can get things cheese .. .. Thanks for sharing

Now THAT'S a cheesy post!!! HAHA!!!

@papa-pepper, You're living an inspiring lifestyle. I love each and everything about your posts. Today's title is funny. Never been there so can't tell what should be your next stop. Anyway, I liked the post. Keep rocking. You're already in the top 3 best authors at Steemit. Good luck!

We stopped at Osceola Cheese on our way back from Springfield yesterday! Everything on a toothpick is tasty! Grabbed some Asiago, 7 year Cheddar, and Provolone. I wish we'd grabbed a Pepper cheese, too, but 20-20 hindsight. We make yummy grilled cheese sandwiches with the goods.

That sounds so good man! You can get full on samples there for sure!

i love cheese

My son would get a kick out of this pic!

That's an easy one... CULVERS!!! Beautiful pics and wonderful kids!

A place that has cheese & fudge & beef sticks?
Yes please.
I'm hoping to get a little mini Winnebago & go on adventures in the next 2 years &
I'll have to avoid that place, or I may want to make it my new home, at least until I try everything! That place looks pretty close to my version of treat heaven.
Crap, now I want fudge.
😍

Good ole Wisconsin cheese! There's nothing better!

I love your postings of real life happenings along your path and stopping to enjoy small sections that you share are why I follow you, I may not always comment but I am reading!

Your post reminds me so much of such fun vacations with several children and maybe a friend or two . Wisconsin is one of the few states I haven't had the pleasure of traveling but you guys surely would be a good ad for the travel-hospitality business there.

Love it @papa-pepper. I have a blog from Dairy State coming!!
The little peppers are always so cute!! :-D

Dude I love cheese, one of my favorite foods on earth. I don't ever buy stuff at stores but this is a cool post none the less!

One of the best things about living in Wisconsin is the cheese!!

Oh, wow, @papa-pepper! A real cheese house! The last cheese house I have been in was in Jan Jose, Costa Rica. The Raton Feliz or Happy Mouse. We loved shopping there every week for a variety of cheeses. We had many cheese houses in Canada and made regular visits to them as well. The variety of cheese curds available at the Mousehouse Cheesehaus is unbelievable. I'm not sure about the ghost pepper one but the others for sure. My son "the mouse" so named by his grandpa read this article over my shoulder and said he was feeling a little hangry and could we mke some poutine for lunch. Sorry kiddo, no can do. I don't have any fresh cheese curds! :( How fortuitous that Sweet Pea needed to go potty right then!

@Cecicastor you have Wisconsin ties as well? What a fruitful life you have lived.

I wouldn't call it exactly fruitful, perhaps very crazy! Never a dull moment. That's for sure. And when I retired, I thought I would be able to take things easy, but I find myself busier than ever.

It truly is the CHEESE state! I gotta know how to get ahold of some of those wasabi cheese thingys!!

Wow looks like they have a great selection I would love checking it out

I am not sure I have ever come across cheese curds before maybe I know them as something else but not sure
I am big on spicy so I would go for the garlic dill myself

You'd remember if you'd had cheese curds, the squeek texture on your teeth is memorable. Yummy, but a bit like when you wash a window with a squeegee & it reaches that clean & dry point.

lol I am intrigued to try them now as with your explanation I am sure I haven't yet

Squeaky cheese curds are pretty much a Wisconsin staple! And if you can't get them the same day they were made, they are not nearly as good. The cheese shop in town hangs out a sign when the curds are fresh.

Good to know if I ever make it there

wish to get such a cheese here to have a taste...thanks for sharing

That's a lot of cheese!

I think if I took my wife to the Mouse House Cheese House, I would have to take a sleeping bag so I can camp in the parking lot until she has seen and tried every single cheese (at least twice). ;-)

So much Cheese!

Too bad they didn't have Pepper Jack cheese, because you would've loved...

Tag! You're It!

I hope you get well soon!

all the cheese and fudge you could ever want..........food coma. haha

Nice post! Thanks for sharing.

Your little peppers are so cute. I really love the unimpressed look on sweet-peppers face in the first picture and her little "thumbs up" in the picture by the van. :D I love the looks on the girls faces in the 5th picture...what is the little pepper in the back holding...I'm guessing cheese, but I've never seen it in whatever that red shape is supposed to be...mind you I've never seen it in a cow shaped package either...that is pretty cool. :D

That fudge just made me gain 5 pounds from looking at the picture...I can only imagine how good it tastes and how much I'd gain if I actually ate it. :D

The look on your sons face is so adorable in the picture with him and the two girls are so funny. Sweet-pepper looks so serious and so cute. :D

Another great post, thanks for sharing and have an awesome day! :D

MANNNNNNN, I saw all of that cheese and just knew you were in a culinary heaven. It reminds me of the Beef Jerky spots in New Mexico. I hope that you entertain us with some fromagier posts.

Glad you enjoyed smelling the dairy air! Our local cheese factory closed not too long ago, but re-opened under new ownership. I haven't been yet. It used to be Beechwood Cheese Factory, and they had the best aged brick in the world (Not independently verified statement)

I've never been to Wisconsin myself, but I have family there so I would visit them first and then, CHEESE!
