Don't Go to Japan without a JR rail pass

in travel •  7 years ago

Japan is one of the most beautiful countries that I have ever visited, and a must for any bucket list. But the question for many people travelling to new destinations is how do I get around, well in Japan this is super easy. This is where the JR rail pass is a must.

So what is a JR rail Pass, well basically it is a prepaid use anytime voucher for either 7 or 14 days on all JR trains. This includes many bullet trains, the transfer train from Narita airport to Tokyo central, and all JR suburban lines. The cost in Australia is about $350 for a first class ticket for a week, and that gives you reserved seating in the first class carriages.

On my last trip I based myself near Ginza, and about a 7 minute walk from Tokyo station. Hiroshima is a 4 hour bullet train, Kyoto 2 hours, Narita airport about 40 minutes, and Disneyland about 30 minutes, and the best part is the JR pass covered it all.

You need to buy this pass outside of Japan, and the beauty of that is it is just prepaying more of your holiday, taking the financial pressure away while you are there.

Safe travels
