The Venice Sailors

The most memorable motif that stayed with me after the trip to Venice is captured in this image.

As any tourist in Venice, I was taking photos on every step, recording all famous buildings, canals, gondolas, squares... And then I figured they are exactly the same as all other images circling the world wide web. The chosen picture was one of the few that had a special sentiment to it. Are these sailors real seamen navigating the ships and being away from the shore for several months? Or is it just a part of the show for tourists? Who knows...
