Episode #4 of my first trip around Germany! - Düsseldorf [Spicy Chicken Feet! 닭발]

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hi Steemians! It’s @Peterkkim96 here and I’m writing the last instalment of this Germany trip series on a bus back to my home in Munich. Thinking back over the last couple of days, I feel like it was one of the more relaxed trips I’ve taken and that’s a good thing because normally I’m left too tired to do anything at the end of a trip. This time I have to energy to write out this short but final part of my first trip around Germany! Hope you like what you see below!

Cologne to Düsseldorf

We left the Airbnb in the early afternoon because our host was kind enough to give us a later check out time. We spent those extra hours looking for the best way from Cologne to Düsseldorf and came up with 2 options: 1) We can take the IC Train which is around 20min and pay 13 euros or 2) Take the Regio train which was 11.4 euros and takes 30min. We decided to go with the second option and we were able to buy a ticket for it at the central station. It was at price level 5 and all you have to do was type your destination into the screen and it would automatically show the price. The train that came was the same as the one we took from Munich to Würzburg, clean and comfortable.

Düsseldorf

we got to Düsseldorf at around 4:30 and our bus was at 8:30pm which gave us plenty of time to accomplish what we had come to Düsseldorf for, to eat spicy chicken feet. As a Korean, I love spicy food and my friend who I came with loves it even more and out of all the spicy food you can pick she loves spicy chicken feet, which is hard to find in Germany. So you can imagine her happiness when she found a place that sells it in Düsseldorf.

Düsseldorf Central Station

The place we went to for spicy chicken feet was run by Korean immigrants and the place was decorated in a very retro manner with a beautiful christmas tree made of green soju bottles (Korea’s national alochol). The menu was in English, German and Korean and the workers could speak them fluently as well. One of the best things about Korean restaurants is that they give unlimited side dishes and this place honoured that tradition by offering unlimited refills of their limited but delicious side dishes. Also, when we got the spicy chicken feet, we thought the marinade was not spicy enough and the worker was kind enough to offer a lot more of their marinate for us to make the food to our liking. It was a great experience to end our trip around Germany :)

And this was the bus I was on while I wrote this post! :)

My first trip around Germany was great! But, there is still a lot more to see and experience and so I can't wait till my next trip!
