Hi Fellow Steemians
Today was the day I left Porto and I can say wholeheartedly that it was a sad moment. I had a lot of fun in this city and there was plenty of things to experience during my time here. Currently, I'm in Lisbon after a 3.5hr bus trip here from Porto.
Let me fill you in on the details from this morning until now :)
Me on the beach!
La Ricotta
@kellykim and I had left the most anticipated restaurant till last and it was La Ricotta. We had read about it's mouthwatering dishes that came in a course format for an extremely reasonable price. I can tell you now that we were not disappointed, from the attitude of the waiter to the quality of dishes, we had nothing to fault.
How happy I was when I looked at the menu
We got in just as the lunch menu started which was at 12:30pm and there was already a line waiting for us. Luckily, it didn't take long for us to get seated. We ordered the octopus and veal dishes for the mains and for the starters Spanish peppers and eggplant. There were a lot of elements to the dishes and I don't have the memory to go into each and every detail so I'll let the pictures do the talking.
Total price for 2 entrees, 2 mains, 2 desserts, 2 wine glasses and bread was only 31euros!!!!!! NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL A BARGAIN!
Eggplant starter
Spanish pepper starter
For dessert, we had pannacotta and tiramisu. Unfortunately, I was too eager to try the tiramisu that I forgot to take a photo of it!
Bike Riding along the river and beach
With a full belly and a smile on our faces, we walked down the slope to the last activity we would have in Porto, bike riding. We found a great place on Tripadvisor called Vieguini and the address was clear and easy to get to. The cost for 2 hours of rental was 5 euros and it was worth every cent. The bikes were very well maintained with smooth gears and the service we got from the owners was exceptional. We were laughing from start to finish.
We ride along the river was extremely beautiful. The weather was slightly cloudy, perfect for exercise. The footpath was smooth, we barely felt a bump. There was no wind either. Just perfect.
There were a lot of fisherman along the river
Guess who this is
A happy @kellykim with our two bikes
The Race against Time
After we dropped our bikes off we glanced at our phones. Then glanced again.... We had 15min to run to our bus stop which was 1.5km away with all our luggage!!!!! Truly, this was like one of those amazing race episodes. The rattling of our suitcase attracted looks from everyone that we flew past and the sweat dripping down our faces sparkled in the air before splashing onto the ground.
But somehow, we made it... Only to find that the bus was late............
When the bus finally rolled in 15min late
If you want to buy a ticket you can do it from the red area at the back. They only accept Portugese cards so have some cash handy.
The inside of the bus
Arrived in Lisbon!
The 3.5hr bus ride was relatively easy. I slept for about an hour and stared out the window for the other as the various fields of green passed by under the falling red sun. It pretty much felt like I was in a trance.
From the bus station to the Airbnb was only a couple of stops via the metro. Luckily there was a metro stop right next to the Sete Rios bus station that I got off at. In order to use the Lisbon metro I had to purchase a Viva viagem card which cost 50 cents and add a trip that cost 1.35 euros. I purchased the ticket from right outside the ticket gates and there was an English translation on the ticket machine so it was an easy process.
This cost me 50 cents
I'll end my post here today since I'm so tired. Can't wait to have a look around Lisbon tomorrow and I bet you can't too!!
You're gonna love Lisbon my dude! Just be mindful of some tourist traps... but the parks are beautiful, and there are so many things to see... Best of luck! Resteemed!
