Our Weekend at Australia's Ultra-Luxury, Wildlife Reserve, Conservation-Based, Carbon Neutral Resort - [Day 1]

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

A location that combines a haven of wildlife, breathtaking natural beauty and unsurpassed luxurious comfort. Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley is in a very secluded location about 3 hours drive from the hustle and bustle of Sydney. It's a very unique resort location in New South Wales, Australia and I wanted to share this experience with you guys, so I hope you enjoy the post!

Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley is a resort owned by a name most well known for it's airline, Emirates. It's run by One&Only which manage the world's most luxurious resorts in exotic locations such as Dubai, the Maldives, Mauritius, Bahamas, South Africa and of course Australia, just to name a few!

This particular resort is carbon-neutral (built to help offset carbon emissions from Emirates airlines) actively works to protect and preserve natural habitat and indigenous wildlife species all whilst delivering first-class and ultra-luxurious resort facilities.

It's set in a remote region of Australia and there is no mobile reception or service. We knew we were in the outback when we were getting closer to the resort and was greeted by this cutie, little did we know that the resort was home to hundreds of them.

We arrived at the base, parked our cars and transferred to an awesome Land Rover Defender to take us from base deep into the valley. We crossed rivers, drove into the forest and finally made it to the resort. The ride was a bit bumpy so no photos unfortunately but here we are after we arrived.

First stop, horse riding. Meet Marshmellow :) A very sweet and gentle horse but very experienced at navigating river crossings and going up and down mountains!

Once our trail ride was over, we were greeted with a Welcome to Wolgan Valley drink, our own personalised itinerary and a beautiful view of the resort built in the middle of rolling hills and 7,000 acres of natural terrain.

We then headed down to lunch (all meals at the resort including breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the price of your stay and the food is gourmet prepared by chefs specialising in all different cuisines).

Short walk amongst the hills to our villa...

Time to check out our new home for the next few days...

Porch with two rocking chairs, perfect for watching the kangaroos, wallabies and wombats come out to play...

Huge bathroom with a natural sunlit shower (or to shower under the stars!)

Beautiful bedroom with a fireplace

Make-up corner of course :)

Walked to dinner and look who was next to the pathway!! They literally come right up but not too close, they usually run away before we get too close but this guy was right next to us :)

Beautiful country backdrop for dinner

They were so nice and prepared a special dessert for our anniversary...

We were so full but I asked if we could have a look into their cheese room and of course they were happy to oblige

This was Day 1 of our weekend so stay tuned for Day 2! We did a self-guided bike tour, more eating, drinking and of course more kangaroo and wallaby sightings and some even came up to our villa by the pool.

Let me know what you guys think and if you've ever visited any resort like this before, it was a first for me so I'm really keen to hear your experiences.

@phamished xx

Nice post! Lol. I sound like a spammer. I am working on the Team Australia update. It should be up today. As one of the editors for @steemitworldmap’s daily #traveldigest, I would love to see this post pop up on http://steemitworldmap.com. If you're interested, simply go to the website, click on code (down the bottom) and add a short description. It will then generate the code you need to copy and paste into your post (not the comments) to have it show up on steemit worldmap. There’s also a FAQ section if you get a bit lost.
You can find out about the project here:

Haha luckily I recognised your steemit username :P. This Steemit World Map initiative looks awesome!! I’ll definitely add the Wolgan Valley post to it, thanks for drawing my attention to this.

Looking forward to the next Team Australia post:)

Cool. I look forward to seeing it again when we do tomorrow's curation!

Looks like a perfect getaway for a weekend!! Loving the cheese and wine session and that place looks so cozy! Envious much!

Yes it was, especially because it was nice to get away from the city and to really get into nature. We were literally in the middle of nowhere with kangaroos jumping around haha. I know people think this is what Australia is like but trust me it's not!

Congratulations, Your Post Has Been Added To The Steemit Worldmap!

Great photos Phamished!

I am loving it, re-living these fine moments is what life is about ;)

Thanks @ohboy, sure is!

Heya, just swinging by to let you know you're being featured in our Daily Travel Digest!

Congrats, you really did a beautiful job at writing this post out! Looking forward to see more!

Oh that’s fantastic news thank you so much @steemitworldmap !! I posted Day 2 just last night so feel free to check it out for more kangaroo sightings haha 😀

Yeah I have heard about that resort, super luxurious! There's an indoor private pool as well right? Was there a Jacuzzi?

There is! Day 2 was spent in the private plunge pool, I wrote about it in this post and added a photo too :)

In addition to the private pools they do have a One&Only spa as well which features a steam room and jacuzzi I believe :)

Great post! A bit more upscale than the caravan park cabins we stayed in on our 2 month roadtrip! Got out to the Blue Mountains on a day tour but never saw this, thanks for sharing. Following you now. You can find my posts for Oz and NZ on worldmap.

Only a bit more upscale ;) . Yes I've also been to the Blue Mountains a few times but never out this far, it was about another hour from Katoomba and actually a very remote place so not sure there's anything like this! You're most welcome, glad you enjoyed the post and thank you very much for the following!

I certainly will check out your posts too :)

This a place looks amazing! Very relaxing. My family and I love to holiday in Australia. Will definitely check this place out when planning our next trip.

Oh really? Where have you been in Australia? Yes definitely, Wolgan Valley is a very unique location so don't think you'll be able to find something like this easily :) at least not one that combines such luxurious amenities with natural habitat and land!

We’ve been three times to Australia in the past 4 years. Each time for about a month in February. Spent most of the time in southern Queensland (Gold Coast, Brisbane) and northern NSW (Yamba, Byron Bay). Yeah, I googled Wolgan Valley, and the place you stayed, it truly is a unique place.

Oh nice you’ve been to more places than me nearly haha I find when you live somewhere you often want to explore another country rather than the one you were born in. Feb is a great time to go also, not too hot :) hopefully you go again soon!
