in travel •  5 years ago  (edited)

Hi, Dear Steemit community,

I would dedicate this post to a great traveller and writer. Mark Twain and my visit to his house in Hartford Connecticut USA. Photos inside the houses were not allowed, Small groups follow an authorized guide who show the very well preserved and elegant furniture and explain the history of his and usage of each room of the house.

Coming back to my first sentence why great traveller and writer In 1867 he left New York by a steamer with a capacity of more than one-hundred cabin passengers start his trip to Europe, Africa, and Middle-east in Asia. Writing one of the most famous books Innocent abroad an eloquent combination of passion for writing and travelling. From my perspective, he was a man of clever opinion and ideas.

Approximately one kilometre far from the bus station of Hartford it is easy to reach. It is told that Mark Twain spent the happiest and productive time of his life. Its position providing an attractive panoramic view from its windows. The house is an example of modernity. Its exterior is embellished with jigsaw-cut wooden decorations consist of abstracted natural elements such as flowers and butterflies The landscape is brought into the house through the conservatory of the library. The willing is to make an engagement with nature and underscore such a relationship.

The house was sold in 1903 after the tragic death of his oldest daughter Susy, the next owners lived until 1917. In 1927 the friends of Hartford saved the house from 1931 to 1950 its first floor became a branch of the Harford Public library the remainder was rented as a private house. In 1960 began the restoration for the celebration of 100th anniversary of the house 1974.
