Semivicoli Palace - a medieval-style hotel

The commune of Kazakanditella, which is located on a hill with a beautiful view of the Italian lowland, is called Semivykolli. From these hills you can see the mountain of Maiella. At its very top, near the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, is a building with a great history, a palace from the Middle Ages, Castello de Semivicoli. It was built in the 7th century, first it belonged to members of the Valignani family, then it was the property of the Perticone family, after the death of all members of the family, the building began to deteriorate.

But in 2003 the palace changed: its owners were members of the Masciarelli family, it was decided to open a guest house in its walls, for which they applied to the firm Oriano Associate Architetti. From 2005 to 2010 there were restoration works. The whole area of ​​the building is two and a half thousand square meters, and the household plot - twenty thousand, which is the tradition of parks and gardens of Italy, they stretch along the first oblong floor.

Initially, on the first floor there were flour-milling, wine production, various warehouses. They were converted into beautiful banquet halls, where they celebrate various solemn occasions and important dates of various historical events.

The main floor consists of a chain of rooms that are given to guests and owners of the palace. In the old dilapidated mezzanine and attic rooms, where servants lived, the new owners finished the hotel rooms with outbuildings. On the top floor above the attic, in former times, there were storerooms. Now they are finished in luxurious rooms with a beautiful view of the nearby mountains, overlooking the Adriatic Sea and the beautiful landscape of the valley.

The architects had to make a time-destroyed palace, conducive to coziness and hospitality, where the classical architecture is in harmony with the minimum of furniture. As conceived by the owners of the palace, stopping at Selisolli, guests should enjoy the simplicity of the interior of the room and the entire space. But at the same time, for their convenience, there are places where you can get acquainted with the history of the palace. The main reconstruction was in the destroyed part of the building, when the palace was without any care for him. The whole building was strengthened according to the requirements of seismic zones, which are noted in this area. All materials for the restoration were stylized in the old days, the style of the building and the technology of the ancient construction were also preserved. All rooms were also restored in the spirit of that era, it was not allowed to introduce modern design elements.
All the old materials from which the palace was built were used again, and where there were not enough of them, a new one was selected, in accordance with the old style of the house.

All living plants were selected in accordance with the image of the house, based on their proportionality to the structure.

The entire heating system was conducted under the floor, and the lamp was installed simple, without pomposity. All this situation has created its own microclimate hotel, which meets high quality.
In the town of Semivicoli stands silence, and the air is filled with tranquility. Here everything has merged: the architecture of the building with its materials, flowers and their fragrances with the antiquity of the building, which is in harmony with the beautiful landscapes of the people who come here to relax.
