Happy places

Lovely Saturday everyone! Today is going to be a chill day. The kittens and children are currently roaming the house and we're watching the new Ducktales. It's pretty awesome! A very well done reboot!

Yesterday I was sitting at my dining table, sipping my coffee, watching my guppies swim around... and I realized which mug I was drinking from. It was a mug I got from Forks, Wa. Forks is an itty bitty little town located on the northern tip of Washington State. It also happens to be my happy place, and its surrounding beaches and national forests.

This area of Washington State is considered the rain forest. It rains here more than any other part of the state, which makes it so beautiful and so green! I make a yearly trip here with a bunch of my friends. I call it my "mommy vacation". They have amazing beaches, such a Rialto, Ruby and La Push. And beautiful cliffs just off shore. Also amazing national forests such as The Hoh Rainforest and Olympic National Park. One of our favorite trails is "The Hall of Mosses". It's a gorgeous trail with giant trees literally COVERED in moss. It's untouched, undisturbed and natural old growth.

The local Native tribe, the Quillayute tribe, are so welcoming and so hospitable. When we visit they grace us with a drumming circle on the beach and tell us tales.

These people are my tribe tho. I love them. We met in this beautiful place and our friendship was so organic. I miss them so much!

sigh It is only a once a year thing. I always look forward to seeing my friends, since most live on the other side of the country. We can all gather together and a share a common love of nature!
