Jet Lag Thoughts - Iconic landmarks (man made)steemCreated with Sketch.

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

So I've woken up super early and I'm thinking about the Eiffel tower and Sydney Harbour Bridge and how these are both landmarks that people travel the world to see. Then I started making a list in my head of the landmarks from cities around the world, and I thought "hey, I could write a steemit post about this". Hopefully it fosters some discussion around world landmarks I've forgotten. So here's my list, in no particular order, with my photos of landmarks I have visited.

Eiffel Tower, Paris, France.

Obviously I was going to start with this one!

London Tower Bridge, London, UK

This was an interesting one for me, is the bridge more iconic, or Big Ben?

Burj Khalifa, Dubai, UAE

Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

MCG, Melbourne, Australia

This was hard - I know Melbourne had the Eureka Tower, but it's not really a drawcard. Then there's events like the F1 and Australian Open. There's Fed Sqaure, but again I'm not really sure it's an international drawcard!

Reichstag, Berlin, Germany

Again I'm not sure if this is the major drawcard for Berlin, but it was first to mind. I do have a photo of it somewhere, but couldn't locate it.

de la Sagrada familia, Barcelona, Spain.

I have a photo of Gaudi's temple as well, just on film. It needs to be digitised!

Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, USA.

I've been to San Fran but the timeline for work was so tight I didn't get to see the bridge!

Machu Picchu, Peru

The colosseum, Rome, Italy

I have a photo of this as well I must dig up from pre-digital times. Rome is another place where it's difficult to choose the major drawcard, but I guess the colosseum would be it.

So that will do me for now, I'm interested to hear what you think I've missed.

Looks like a traveler's to do list to me! One that I would love to see is the Hagia Sofia in Instanbul

There you go, never heard of it! Off to do some Googling...
