Canarias#1 : Tejeda, Gran Canaria

In this blog, I’m going to share with you some atypical and secret places in Canarias (the rural Canarias, not the beaches) with a mix of film and digital photographies.

For the first one, I would like to share with you a wonderful place that I discovered last month. It was my second trip in Gran Canaria, this time I choose to let the beach, my hotel and the swimming pool aside, to discover the forgot island, the place where nobody go.

And what I’ve seen was absolutely wonderful.

This village called Tejeda is in the center of the island. To go there, you have to take your car, and drive on twisting roads, but the landscape are amazing. It’s like take a road from the heaven. Every 15mn the landscapes change. From the ocean, you’ll see area of cactus on a dry climate, then a laurisilva forest, and to finish a wonderful pinery. All the way is an alternation between all these landscapes, and what a surprise on each turn.

This village earned the award of the most beautiful village of Spain, but despite of this award this is not a crowd place. All citizen are so nice, and the restaurants at the end of the village are great.

A good quiet place, resourceful, conducive to meditation and stop the time, enjoy the silence and the view…

If you go to Gran Canaria once, forget for one day your beach and your hotel, to discover this beautiful village and all landscapes around, it’s a breathtaking scenery for sure !
