Thailand is a beautiful country situated in south east Asia. It has a population of 66 million people. And it's capital is known as Bangkok.

Thailand's people speak Thai, and a high 93.2 % of the population are Buddhist. Which explains why there are so many Buddhist temples in the country. They use a currency called baht.

Thailand covers an area of 513000 sq km

Thailand is a well known affordable tourist destination. It's known for its beautiful beaches and Thai cuisine, as well as its Buddhist temples.

Manufacturing, agriculture and tourism are the leading sectors of the economy.

The north of the country of Thailand is a mountainous area and the center is a flat river valley which runs into the gulf of Thailand. Southern Thailand consists of the Kra Isthmus which widens into the Malay peninsula.

The Andaman sea is precious to Thailand as it hosts Phuket and many luxury resorts.

There have been plans to create a canal which connects the gulf of Thailand to the Andaman sea. The canal would improve economic conditions in this area which relies mainly on tourist income.

Most of Thailand has a tropical wet and dry or Savannah type climate. It is divided into 3 types of seasons: May to mid Oct which is rainy or southwest monsoon season. During this season they may also experience tropical cyclones. Mid Oct to mid Feb is winter or the north east monsoon, they experience dry weather and mild temperatures. Feb to mid May is considered summer or the pre-monsoon season. The temperatures range from 0°c to 40°c.

The elephant is the national symbol of Thailand. But now their population is dwindling because of poachers. There are many wild and exotic species that are threatened because of poaching and popularity of keeping certain species as pets.

Definitely a place in my list to be visited.
