Spontaneous Travel: Don't Over-Plan Your Trip

There are tons of fantastic resources for planning travel these days. It is so easy to get a feel for your upcoming vacation long before you ever step foot off of the plane. It is great to be able to plan activities, book hotels, and pick out all of the restaurants that you have to eat at when you arrive for vacation.

Per-planning for you vacation is a great thing, and it will save you from searching through pamphlets and maps when you are traveling. While you are planning, you will want to make sure that you do not over-plan your vacation. Packing in too many activities and not leaving open time to explore and relax can really put a damper on your trip.

One of the best part of traveling is experiencing new things and enjoying the spontaneous or unexpected. If you have planned out every minute of your vacation ahead of time then you will find yourself less likely to run into a pleasant surprise. You will also want to make sure that there is plenty of down time in your plans for relaxation. It's not a real vacation if you don't take some time to take it easy.

I find that some of my best experiences during travel have occurred when I wasn't expecting them. I always like to do a little planning and research about my travel destination, but over-planning can take the fun out a vacation. It's important to be spontaneous while traveling to get the most out of your trip.

the next time you travel, take some time to just walk around, skip using Tripadvisor for a bit, and try a restaurant without knowing the reviews first. You won't always hit the jackpot when you don't have a plan, but you will be pleasantly surprised by some of the great things that you find when you have no plans for your day!
