On the Copenhagen Harbour, 'Dahlerups Pakhus', the Danish professor Bjørn Nørgaard has created a sculpture group called 'The Genetically Modified Paradise'.
The square is formed in granite stone with a 400-square-meter fountain. In the fountain, Bjørn Nørgaard's sculpture gives his provocative and humouristic view of the postmodern society.
The last sculpture has moved into the water basin on its own small island. This is the Genetically Modified Little Mermaid.
The bronze statue — on a rock 400 metres from the original statue — has twisted features and long, skeletal limbs.
"We don't know what it is that we're discussing when we talk about genetically modified technologies, so I decided I wanted to give it a try," Noergaard said. "I picked her because it had to be something Danish."
The statue was originally shown at the Danish pavilion at the Expo 2000 World's Fair in Hanover, Germany.
Described in a news release as "a provocative and humorous look at postmodern society," the artwork was shown to an audience of about 300, including Denmark's Prince Henrik, the husband of Queen Margrethe.
I was here playing Ingress and took a mission after the Obsidian anomaly in 2016. Ingress takes you to new places very often, just because of a portal or a mission takes you there.
