Galápagos

in travel •  7 years ago

I spent several years on the Galápgos islands, between 1988 and 1994.
As a biologist, I was amazed to see the evolution happening right in front of my eyes and it is easy to understand how these species have evolved in the last millions of years. Many animals are unique to the islands and are nowhere else to be found, such as these marine iguanas, land iguanas, giant tortoises, lizards, snakes and most land birds.
I worked on the Galápagos as a naturalist- and tour guide for Metropolitan touring, which is a local company.
I even met my wife on the Galápagos islands. She worked as a biology student on the Charles Darwin research station.
The Galápagos archipelago belongs to Ecuador (which is a stunningly beautiful country), and are located about 1000 km off the coast of Ecuador right in the equator.Iguana marina.jpg
