Sriwijaya is one of the kingdoms in the archipelago that has a wide area of ​​power. This is evidenced by the discovery of many relics, one of them Bahal Bahal in the area of ​​Portibi, Padang Lawas, North Sumatra.
Bahal Temple which stands on two hectares of land has existed since the 11th century, and is a temple that is closely related to the development of Hinduism in Indonesia.

Formerly the name of this temple named Portibi because it was in the area of ​​Portibi, Padang Lawas, but since 1991, the Indonesian government turned it into Bahal. The reason is because the temple is still in the nearest village, the village Bahal.

there is a blend of Hinduism and Buddhism in the temple, so when the feast of Waisak, Bahal temple is still often used for worship. Located at an altitude of 68 meters above sea level, the splendor and glory of the Sriwijaya Kingdom is seen in the temple.
