Hi once again steemians!
I thought id write something that I find interesting and working as a flight attendant I have realized that many people don't actually know about. Have you ever sat in row 13 on an airplane?
Did you know a long list on airlines don't actually have a row 13?
Its known in many parts of the world as an unlucky number for a number of reasons but it seem to mainly come from The Last Supper: At Jesus Christ's last supper, there were thirteen people around the table, counting Christ and the twelve apostles. Some believe this is unlucky because one of those thirteen, Judas Iscariot, was the betrayer of Jesus Christ. From the 1890s, a number of English language sources relate the "unlucky" thirteen to an idea that at the Last Supper, Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th to sit at the table.
Some airlines even have only on some aircrafts, depending in they are used for international flights or only short haul.
Here is a page where you can check which airlines do and don't have a row 13, http://www.seatguru.com/ You can see all the different layouts airlines have, after a bit of investigation here is a list where you can see for example on which airlines you will and won't find a row 13. This is a brief list and many are missing!
Aer Lingus Yes
Air Berlin Yes
Air China Yes (No row 4)
Air France No
Alitalia Yes
ANA Yes (No row 4 or 44)
American Airlines Yes
British Airways Yes
Continental Airlines No
Czech Airlines Yes
Delta Airlines No
Delta Airlines Yes
Emirates No
EasyJet Yes
El Al Yes
Finnair Yes
Germanwings No
KLM No
LOT Polish Airlines Yes
Lufthansa No
Monarch Airlines Yes
Royal Jordanian Yes
Ryanair No
SAS No
Singapore Airlines No
SWISS No
TAP No
I have added also in parenthesis that Air China doesn't have row 4 and ANA doesn't have row 44, this is as far as I have understood because In China, number 4 is avoided because the Mandarin word for 4 (“si” pronounced “ssuh”)) differs only in tone from the word for death. If any Chinese steemian could confirm that would be great!
Both Alitalia and Lufthansa do not have a row 17 either, as considered unlucky in Italy and Brazil.
I like these little details that make airlines unique, and they are great little conversation starters with fellow passengers!
Thanks for the read and take care guys!
These misteries and specialities are very interesting, great post!

Yes thats absolutely right, number 4 (四; accounting 肆; pinyin sì) is considered an unlucky number in Chinese because it is nearly homophonous to the word "death" or "decease" (死 pinyin sǐ). So most building have no 4th floor same as airlines don't have row nr. 4.
