Not only that the place is amazing, but the snow gives it a great aspect that it takes your breath.
It was snowy day when I dropped by Seong Bool Sa Temple. This temple was well known because of the song in where sang a lonely silent night of this temple.
It was little bit difficult to climb the mountain due to the snow. I walked up to the temple.
What made me dropped by this temple were it’s carved Buddha statue and it’s scenery about where the song sang.
The scenery was excellent, especially the snow helped to constitute the atmosphere similar to that of the song.
There was not so many people due to the snow. People could not come closer to the temple due to the snow.
It is much better to see that scenery than to explain.
The best place in this temple was Dae Woong Jeon of the main building.
This Dae Woong Jeon was not so large to that of other temple, because this temple was built in the steep slope.
This temple believed to have been built in Koryeo Dynasty, it meant that this temple was built more that 1000 years ago.
May be it was not easy to dropped by this temple long time ago.
What made people build the temple in this deep mountain?
The main object in this temple was the carved Buddha statue and 16 great monks.
It seemed that this statue had been carved 1000 years ago.
The statue was not clear due to the weathering of long time.
(Buddha)
It was not easy to identify Buddha
(16Great Monks)
In the main building, there was no statue in center place.
There was a glass window behind the seat.
It meant that they were serving the carved Buddha statue as the main Buddha statue.
I sat in the main building and enjoyed hearing the sound of small bell of ‘Poong Gyeong’
It’s sound made me comfortable and felt me being healed.
What makes the place great is not a size or a scale but an accumulation of time and feeing.
How lovely the buildings look dusted with snow and so lonely and far away.
Temples are usually built on heights and the way to approach them often difficult to navigate - they are meant to be remote and inaccessible and are designed to attract only true seekers.
The Buddha statue, so weathered by the elements as to be almost indistinguishable from rock, is a symbol of the millennium that have passed while this remote sanctuary slept.
Awesome pictures @rocajgm. There's no snow here in ph so its always a marvel seeing this kind of posts/photos.
