Like the other days, I was scrolling down what's app status; suddenly some pictures caught my attention. On little introspection, I came to know that a festival has been going on from couple of days and will last for few more days. Boarded on a bus, no planning at all ! Skimming through the headlines of the newspaper, after three hours we reached Bhairabkunda; the place of eternal beauty.

At the tri-junction of Bhutan

When you see places, rich in natural diversity; it is natural tendency to explore and extract more out of it. We decided to capture everything one by one without any hurry. Sipping a cup of tea, I asked the shop keeper, " What is special about this place ?" "Basically, it is a picnic place and a famous tourist destination. Many hydroelectric projects are proposed, and it provides easy to access to Bhutan, the land of thunder Dragon." He replied. Moreover, every year tourists from different regions arrive here to enjoy the festival which showcases diverse cultural and unique things, made by wood, bamboo etc.

Welcome gate made by bamboo

Welcome gate was of different kind, do you notice that ? Yes, correct; it is made by bamboo. North-eastern India hosts a bucket of species of flora and fauna, adding profundity and a ground of research for nature lovers. Really, the Himalayan regions offer insights on the vastness of creation; opens up new dimensions to inquisitive minds. Entering inside, enjoyed a volleyball match, capturing alluring and attracting things we confronted with.

Ground for cultural programs

In rainy season, the place is submerged with water and it is difficult to host the festival. Now, the amount of water is low and it is possible to organise festival here and attracts tourist towards it. The open space, air, water, and the mountains standing quietly for thousands of years amaze me and I stare at it constantly and it pulls my attention completely. Whenever I stop staring and walk again, it adds vitality and an enormous amount of positivity to whole body. May be getting touch of mischievous elements do the process of refreshment throughout the body.

Few meters ahead from the welcome gate

Both sides of the road were occupied with small stalls, tea shops, and traditional articles preserved from thousands of years. In today's changing world, the trend slipping downward in preserving culture and heritage which are the identity of ethnic groups. Several articles were displayed in the festival, giving an idea as how people in ancient days used things for their survival.

Decorations was done with perfection

Colour in the rocks, beautiful decorations, installation of shops all around the valley, are of something to watch constantly. People of different ethnicity come here, spend time with relatives hanging around the shops, from buying to gathering information and the most important thing, what it might be ? Of course, taking photos (haha ). I too not the exception, pulled out my camera, stared taking photos till my phone wished my bye bye. A lot of remained unexplored that day. I wish I could explore it again.

Bamboo dustbin

Some of we through plastics like chocolate wrappers, chips packets,(Specially in India) without seeing any place, while travelling in a bus. Also, we don't think, is that what we supposed to do being a responsible citizen ? Not everyone has the habit of this, but we must minimise it to zero and make our motherland clean.("Ek Kadam Swacchta Ki Or":- "A step towards cleanliness") Bamboo dustbin attracts me, and I couldn't pass by without clicking it. We can promote cleanliness by installing these bamboo dustbins in northern India, as bamboo is easily available throughout north-east.

Art Camp

A picture is worth a thousand words. You can express much trough an art. Art is a passion and companion for those, who speaks less and inculcate a habit of expressing thoughts in picture. Art of nature, freedom fighters were displayed there by a group of youth of that district. It is our fundamental duty to cherish and follow the noble ideals which inspired our national struggle for freedom.

Pictures of prominent personalities

What Interesting was no use of platics as far possible in the festival. Disposal of plastics to rivers may threat the survival of aquatic animals, we must stop this to strengthen the ecosystem, we can't survive alone ! It conveys the great message. If possible, carrying cloth bags, refilling pens and many other simple activities can reduce the uses of plastics significantly. It is simple things that make great difference. I hope our steemian friends implement this technique to reduce plastic usage to make the earth green and clean. Me must do this collectively.

Try something new

Preferring fish over meat is a good option. Why I prefer fish is because- it is the most primitive form of life, also digest quickly than meat. Price was little bit higher still reasonable. We took fish, sat there resting for sometime. Everything was fine, fish filled stomach got something to work upon, we too headed to the next shop. Avoiding non vegetarian diet is beneficial for our health, as it takes more time to digest than vegetarian foods. We must consume foods which go out of the alimentary canal within twelve hours of time. I am reducing meat intake and gradually shifting towards vegan diet.

Handicraft items

Hanloom and handicraft sector was one of the main source of livelihood for the people of India. But, with the advent of British and introduction of machineries in these sectors, hanloom and handicraft sector lost its popularity and people had to search another source of livelihood in those days. Ready-made goods replace the market, no use of hands, technology replaces all the physical works and establish a new era of possibilities where a artificial robot acquires human intelligence through interaction- all are made possible by technology, we must bow down to it.

Wooden articles

Different articles of wood catched my attention there. Wooden pot, musical instruments, wooden bird and many such magnificent handicrafts calling tourists towards itself. Some were busy buying these things, some were bargaining and I just took the photographs from distance.

Assam is well known for its muga silk, but I haven't seen the worm which actually gives the cocoon. I just read in books about the sericulture, unaware about the process; yesterday got a chance to understand little bit about it. I asked about it, " We came here just for presentation, we have a department of sericulture eight kilometers away from here, actually it is som tree and worms feed on the leaves of this plant, Just like butterflies, silkworm moths begin their life as an egg that then hatches into a growing, feeding caterpillar. When a silkworm has eaten enough, it constructs a cocoon made out of silk fibers, and inside that cocoon it turns into a pupa" he replied.

A group of people selling some liquid in a bottle, I enquired; it was a pesticide made by cow urine. They explained that cow urine is a divine medicine which can cure many diseases. In the Vedas, the oldest of the Hindu scriptures, the cow is associated with Aditi, the mother of all the gods. They are promoting organic farming and also get a good results from cow urine when applied to the crops. At the beginning their motive was not for selling, but, they now turn it to business and spreading the awareness on organic farming and promoting cow urine all over Assam. We need to shift to organic farming for better results. I am also not against the chemical farming; but we use it from the view of cultivation not exploitation, mother Earth already facing too much exploitation in this century.

Lets explore the another side ?

It was time to explore the another side of the road. We didn't have much time and we skipped many shops and went the another side. Another side was filled with natural beauty. Local people chilling with wine and beer, some were dancing, some couldn't even stand on their feet, overall it is the month of January.

Entering through the gate we walked down the road to the picnic place. The picnic place is like a small valley, small stream flowing down. At least fifty groups were there dancing altogether and welcoming new year. What painful was they just left the wine and beer bottles beside and some were breaking bottles ! This needs to be changed and we need keep safe our tourist destinations.

We walked around four K.M covering half of the area till the evening, stiil there remains a lot to enjoy the scenic beauty of sunset. As it was Sunday and the availability of buses were quite low that day. We had to take four hours of journey to return back to our home town. We took local transport upto highway and returned back to the town.
