London UK

An impressive city. Love at first sight. A dream come true.

Day 1: August 3rd

Having enjoyed the landscapes, we arrived at the Saint Pancras international station in London. I could not be happier; as one of my friends would say 'It’s London baby'. I was at the top of my expectations, it was an immense pleasure to be there; we had succeeded again. I was thinking of my family, I knew they would have been very proud of me.

Getting to know London

After doing the currency exchange, we got some information in the attention to the tourist box office. Then, we left the station. We took the subway; which they call Underground. It is a symbol of the city; by far the best subway system I have seen.

Among all kinds of comments about our nascent adventure, we arrived at the Borough district where our inn was located. While we were walking, we curiously watched the typical red buses and Mini cars; both well-known British symbols.

In order not to lose the label of good tourists, we got to the wrong inn; but with the help of a kind and attentive employee, we finally located the right one. Then we were ready to go out and walk the streets. Our first stop was the renowned London Bridge, which has a lot of history to its credit; many people confuse its name when referring to the Tower Bridge, which was approximately one km upriver. There, we took some pictures with the River Thames sideways, in the background and in the front. We were pure smile, free as the cool breeze that always accompanied us. Despite being in summer, London could get cloudy if it wanted to, and even offer us relatively fresh temperatures; but in no case the heat that one would expect during that season of the year.

We set out on foot towards the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London bordering the Thames, passing through the nice business district known as City of London. It was a wonderful and delightful city, comparable to nothing I had seen or visited before.

We could not stop taking pictures everywhere, we wanted to capture every moment, every angle; even though the best angle was the one in which they remained engraved in my mind.

On the way, we ate something and later we approached the Tower Hill area. We noticed that Londoners were always hurrying to expose themselves every time a sunbeam appeared, I suppose they do not see the sun very often there; it seemed curious to us.

Finally, we approached the historic Tower of London, right next to the Tower Bridge, where we enjoyed the extraordinary atmosphere. Once on the bridge, we had the chance to continue taking photos from all possible points of view, on it, from the corner that adjoined the tower area, from the opposite end, crossing it, and so on. Anyway, we had a lot of fun.

To make the afternoon even better than it already was, we delighted ourselves with a good cup of coffee in the Starbucks that was just diagonal to the bridge. But it was time to go back and take a break. After some rest, we went out again for a small night stroll. We took the subway to the well-known Hyde Park. We had a short walk while fighting the camera; it was malfunctioning, but the problem was eventually solved. It was time to return to the inn. The following day, an extensive and fun schedule awaited us.
