Old Bridge: Silver River Pass
After visiting the Map of Africa viewpoint, my wife and I took the old road, traversing the Kaaimansgat and Silver River Passes. The Silver River Pass road was built in 1882 and is only 2.7km long and has a height variance of 86 meters. This pass has 30 bends compressed into the 2.7km, which makes this a vary winding road!!
At the bottom of this pass you find an old bridge that was built in 1904. (I suppose the road just went through the river, before the bridge was built)
The road is really very scenic, with dense vegetation and high cliffs on both sides!!
The river is quite small, and is actually only a small stream, but just look at how beautiful it is!!
I don't know why this river is called the Silver River, as it looks more golden to me!! The bush surrounding the river looks amazing!!
It was a very nice trip through this pass, with some amazing scenery, with a nice old bridge thrown into the mix!!
