How can you come to St Lucia and not go to the street party?

The Gros Islet Street Party is the longest running street party, which takes place every Friday from around 6pm-2am. So, as we arrived on a Thursday in the late afternoon, for a two week holiday, to attend the street party on the first Friday just would've been too much, so we decided to go on the second Friday - Which was a perfect idea!

As you know, we are travelling with our family and small baby so we were aware this probably wasn't the best scene for little people. However we spoke to a few locals who work in the hotel, who reassured us that it would be completely fine to take a baby until around 10pm, which is when it starts to get busy and basically turns into an adult street rave!
This was definitely the case and it was lovely to take our baby to experience a big part of the St Lucian culture without being unsafe.

Lucky Us..

Once we arrived, we walked up and down the street a couple of times and took everything in; from fresh street food and souvenir stalls, to good vibes and AMAZING music.
As it approached 9pm, we decided it was time to take Torey back to the hotel, but luckily for us, my Mum and aunties offered to do so while we stayed out for another hour and boy are we glad we did! It was amazing!! Especially the music! It was right up my street to say the least!

As we didn't want to just attend the street party as normal tourists, we decided to switch shoes with each other (people in our group) and thought it was quite cool!!

St Lucia is such a happy place. If there is anything I have learned so far, it is to be happy with the person you are. Not to expect too much and treat others how you wish to be treated, it not better!

So if we have the privilege to return back to St Lucia, we will definitely be revisiting Gros Islet Street Party, however next time will be till 2am when the party ends!!

I know I haven't managed to post much since being on holiday, however ALOT has happened while we have been here and I will be sharing these moments with you as soon as I can, so keep checking in for some big news!!!
